Bio Photo So Many Ancestors....So Little Time..
I was born in N.C. a long time ago and have lived in VA. for quite some time.
I enjoy researching civil war soldiers and their families and live in the Heart of the Confederacy.
I enjoy painting with acrylics, especially Old Homeplaces..Beach Scenes..Old Depots, any OLD buildings and such!
I have been Following the Periwinkle in Henry County, VA. and surrounding areas for over 25 years and have enjoyed every minute. :O)
There are many soldiers in my virtual Confederate Cemetery here on Findagrave.
If I can help you with anything, please feel free to ask me.
If you want me to transfer a memorial Please Include Your Findagrave # and go to Edit and ask me there.
I want to thank all the people that have helped me with my research over the years.
Two are Laura Rust and Eugene Landreth who helped my Mom and I when we first started our quest in the 1980s.
The "stories" are what make our ancestors on findagrave come alive once more.

To Forget Ones Ancestors Is To Be A Brook Without A Source, A Tree Without A Root.....

Dear Ancestor,
YOUR TOMBSTONE STANDS AMONG THE REST
NEGLECTED AND ALONE
THE NAME AND DATE HAVE WORN OFF
THE WEATHERED MARBLE STONE
IT REACHES OUT TO ALL WHO CARE.
IT'S NOW TOO LATE TO MOURN
YOU DID NOT KNOW THAT I'D EXIST
YOU DIED....AND I WAS BORN
YET EACH OF US ARE CELLS OF YOU
IN FLESH, IN BLOOD, IN BONE.
OUR HEARTS CONTRACT AND BEAT A PULSE
ENTIRELY NOT OUR OWN
DEAR ANCESTOR, THE PLACE YOU FILLED
SOME HUNDRED YEARS AGO
SPREADS OUT AMONG THE ONES YOU LEFT
WHO WOULD HAVE LOVED YOU SO
I WONDER HOW YOU LIVED AND LOVED.
I WONDER IF YOU KNEW
THAT SOMEDAY I WOULD FIND THIS PLACE
AND COME TO VISIT YOU.....

Find A Grave gives us an "Unknown" choice for burials or cremations, etc. and if it's a known fact that these people are dead, and they will most likely never be officially linked to any particular burial place, they also have a right to be remembered and to be linked to their other family members.
I will gladly link those who have an unknown status.
That can easily be changed if they are proved to be in any particular place.
They were somebody too, and deserve to be remembered.
If you send me a request and I do not address it within a few days, please re-send!
If you re-send and still get no response, go ahead and list my memorial on here, because I'm probably dead. :)

Question
I am looking up a Bray that is a mystery to me and i am wondering if my bray might be related to your line. The one i am looking for is Jane Bray born 1821 (tn?) and married in claiborne county tn in 1842. so far i cant find any parents for her. Here is what i know about her or heavily suspect. 1. i do tie in through her to the Henry Bray/Sarah Yokely line due to ancestry DNA matches. 2.when her daughter was married to my great grandfather she was given 300 acres of land in Kentucky but there is no record of transfer. 3. There is strong reason to suspect there is indian blood for one reason or another but again i cant find any details. I do have a gedcom number if you want to contact me privately for that. 4. Jane was a midwife most of her life but no record of training so i suspect she got the training from her mom.

Bertie Ruth Carter
Thanks for the new info, which I've added to her entry.

I was just noticing that her brother, Grover, was also born in April of 1906. So I guess they must have been twins. They have his birthdate as April 18---and Bertie's says April 13. Do you think that can be right---or is one of them wrong???

Wonder if twins have ever been born several days apart??? (Poor mother!!!)

Ann Landreth (analiga moody)
I'm trying to find information on my great3x grandfather i believe his name was Absolom (Absolum) C. Freeman. I found a confederate soldiers record here https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XK65-1CK . I'm stuck here in my family search :( I do know that he is the son of Ann Eliza "Annie" Landreth Freeman of whom was cherokee indian and was adopoted by John and Elanor Landreth. Her orignal name was Analiga Moody. She married my great great Grandfather Meredith S. Freeman on 6-2-1878 and they gave birth to Absolom Freeman on around 1827. Any help would be appreciated. I saw that you had posted some information. Thanks in advance :)
