Bio and Links
Bio Photo My home is circa 1784. Its situation is such that it fell in the line of battle during the conflict between the States. When my father died, I was too early at the cemetery for the appointment concerning the necessary arrangements. To pass the time I paid a visit to the antique shop close by. Displayed there was a book which possessed a title that gave me the idea that my home may be mentioned within. Upon opening it, the pages fell directly to a description and photograph of my old place. It was not intended for the purpose, but the volume became a much worn field guide as I sought to visit and photograph other antebellum homes in the vicinity. I pursued that objective with interest and vigor. This caused me to notice the old churches en route and I began to photograph them. Behind the churches were cemeteries. Cemeteries that I found to be serene and sublime, full of lore. In turn they led me here and I stayed.

161639991 Henry C. Hilleary

My message was not clear.....sorry. Due to the fact that Henry had been in the hospital and supposedly died there, I placed him in that particular cemetery even though his name did not appear in the records online. If you have anything in your records that places him elsewhere, I will be happy to move him to the correct location.

It took a long time to photograph that swallowtail as it just would not stay still. That particular year, there were many in our garden but we have had only a couple of them since.

Thanks for your reply,

John B Omohundro at Christ Episcopal

I was wanting to ask you about John Breckenridge Omohundro. You had posted a document on his page, listing the artillery unit he was with.

Somehow I have his birthdate listed as 1841, yet the tombstone looks like it says 1866. Have you found any documents showing his actual place of burial?

I am worried I may have listed a photo of some other John Breckenridge Omohundro, possibly a son.

161639991 Henry C. Hilleary

When you have time, will you please check the memorial for Henry? He was originally from Emittsburg, Md. but in 1860, he is in Loudoun Co., Va, where his wife and children were later buried. The pension record indicates that he was in the Eastern Lunatic Asylum. His name was not in the info. for the hospital that is online.

Henry was residing with Wm. Hilleary in 1860, who possibly was also in the war. This is not my immediate family but I have worked on all of the Maryland Hilleary family to add to this site.

Your help is sincerely appreciated!

And......I really like your updated bio on your home page.
