Bio and Links
Bio Photo Find A Grave memorials should be viewed as works in progress. I gladly link families and add to memorials.

If you need information on Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Smith Road, Southside, Etowah Co., AL, please contact me. I have records of all known burials there and cemetery records dating back to 1960. I have viewed most of the obituaries and added tidbits of information from them to the memorial bio. A second edition to the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery book is now in progress.
Pictures are worth a thousand words. My photos are not always good; due to the time of day of photo, old, old markers in poor condition which need cleaning, etc., but they are worth a view to someone searching for an ancestor. The only time I add an "overview" photo to someone else memorial is to show location which is a great help in finding a marker in a large area and/or to add data on the photo caption. If you wish for photos to be deleted, please let me know. Bad, good or better photos are yours if you want to use them on your records. While not necessary, credit is always appreciated if you use the photos. Just show Find A Grave and memorial number - no need to show my name. If you wish for a better photo and the cemetery is close by, I will retake a photograph. Excluding my own kin and a few special people, my memorials are up for grabs if you are related and request a transfer...but please add your FAG ID# to your request.
Obituaries are published in newspapers for all the world to read! Some obituaries are online, so millions of folks can read them. Often that information assists genealogist in making family ties and especially if there were infants listed. Each volunteer compiles memorials differently. Sometimes I add a portion of an obituary, sometimes more. I have found obituaries published out of my area that pulled the puzzle pieces together. Just be thankful you found something that might enhance your research. Remember we are volunteers, so thanks to all who add to Find A Grave. This is a great big 'ole wonderful website!!!

You will be surprised at the low cost of these last few cases of books! Every penny will be used by the Etowah County Heritage committee members to buy genealogical books for Gadsden Public Library, Gadsden, Alabama. Etowah County Heritage books - email: We have ONLY Etowah County Heritage books - please contact each county for their separate book. I have served on the Etowah County Heritage book committee for more than 15 years.

RE: John D. McDuffie
Thank you so much for all of your efforts. I will pass the information on to my brother-in-law Robert McDuffie.

Thank you so much for the photo of the tombstone. The grave next to her's is her brother and I have now linked them together with their father. I have not been able to find the mother since they were divorced and I don't know if she remarried. You ARE an angel and I so much appreciate the work you do. I try to do my part although it in no way compares to what you have done. Again, thank you.

Thanks so much for doing this! And for taking both her section and the photo showing the complete memorial. Odell was the second wife of Chas Waldrop but he was her first husband. FindAGrave volunteers are the best!!
