I am a husband, father, minister, musician, and writer. I am from the Methodist tradition and have discovered over 30 clergy on my family tree. One 4th great grandfather, Levi Garrison, was a Methodist circuit rider ordained by Francis Asbury. About a dozen Garrison pastors from early Georgia history were his relatives, along with Meaders, Hagood, and Quillian relatives who were preachers. Another 4th great grandfather, Thomas Maxwell, an early Baptist pioneer pastor in Georgia, was jailed and persecuted for his faith and was defended by Patrick Henry. A 3rd great grandfather, Isaac Taylor, was one of a trio of brothers who were early circuit riders in Alabama and Mississippi development. This tradition of ministry was passed down to nearby generations, including my father, both of my grandfathers, and several uncles and cousins. And if that weren't enough ... I married a Methodist clergywoman, who is herself descended from a dozen clergy relatives! I am also proud of my roots among the farmers, machinists, civil engineers, military servants, and homemakers in North Alabama and North Georgia, part of the fabric of who I am.|
My family lines that I research include West, Hagood, Wills, Thompson, Garrison, Quillian, Maxwell, Mitchell, Hamby, Clark, Taylor, Williams, Holland, Price, and Arendale.

I believe we are relatives, distant, but still relatives: Levi Garrison was my 2nd grand uncle, his father, Simpson McEnville Hagood, my 3rd great grandfather. I saw your name on his memorial page, and I thought I'd come over here and say hello. So...hello! I'm living in southeast Wisconsin now by way of the northern Chicago suburbs, born in Phoenix Arizona (some time ago) - I come into the Haygood family by way of Mary Almeda Haygood (born 8 July 1879 in Georgia who is my great grandmother, the wife of Thomas Jefferson Bates, my great grandfather, and father of Gifford T. Bates my grandfather, who is the father of my father, Thomas J. Bates. Whew. That's my life in a nutshell, Haygood-wise anyhow.

Thanks for the picture of my Great Grandfather. I am William Hayes Coburn grandson of Louella Hamby and Madison Hayes Reynolds. I taken several pictures of the headstone but have none of him. I was raised in Fairfield by Louella (Mammy) and Hayes (Pappy) until their deaths. I visited uncle Early often while he was living with my aunt Nell. My mother was Laura Frances Reynolds and father was Arthur Earl Coburn. Upon my mother's death, a younger sibling discarded all the old family photos not realizing their importance. I have but a few.
Thank you so much. I really appreciate it.

Thank you so very much for the links.
|Michelle Urban||RE: Joel Arendale|
Do you know for certain that Joel is buried in this cemt?
There are many graves marked just with rocks.
It could be that one of those or not have a marker at all.
