Bio

I have had an interest in local history for over 40years, mostly in Readfield, Maine. In addition to the genalogical research I have done, for my and several other Readfield families, I have self-published two books of Readfield VR's 1768-1976, several monographs and have several historical blogs pertaining to Readfield; I have taped several oral histories and "tromped" a good many cemeteries over the years! Am currently researching old houses in Readfield and the people who lived in them (book pending). In 2016 I released a book (350+ pages with 220 vintage photos) titled "The Founders and Evolution of Summer Resorts and Kids' Camps on four Lakes in Central Maine" (Echo, Torsey, Lovejoy and Maranacook). In 2018 my book "The Paupers and Poor Farms: Support and Care of the poor in Readfield, ME 1791-2018" " became available. I am happy to help find and take pictures of gravestones, in Readfield and Vassalboro, when able. I also have a complete listing of all burials in Readfield up to about 1975, so can do look ups from home upon request. If your roots lead to Readfield I am a good resource and enjoy helping when able. Also be sure to see my web site www.readfield1791.blogspot.com Happy Hunting!!
