|William Thomson||RE: Ashbel Colwes Hotchkiss|
At this point, unless there are gravestones in separate locations, Ashbel Cowles Hotchkiss is officially located in Spring Grove, on Main Street, in Hartford. Separate "markers" is not unusual, at least in my family. I can name three family members "residing" in more than one cemetery.
Having said that, my Grandfather had records indicating Hartford and the "monument" in Spring Grove is quite substantial. I can't imagine him being anywhere else. The relatives I have with multiple markers are just that markers and not monuments. (Vacation homes, etc.)
Do you have a specific reason for interest in Ashbel? As my great, great grandfather, I have a little information about him if you are interested.

You have indicated that Ashbel Hotchkiss's gravestone is in Bristol, CT. Can you give me more information? He is my great, great grandfather and I have a wonderful portrait of him. I have been trying to figure out where his gravestone is.
Bristol doesn't quite fit what I would have expected. My grandfather left a note saying that he was buried in the Old North Cemetery in Hartford.
Thanks for your help with this matter.

I would have to see the William Turner family picture! How did you identify it as him?
I am assuming you are referring to the William who was Christopher's brother. They also had a brother Abraham who fought in the Civil War and died at Vicksburg. I assume he was buried there.
I have never been able to find out where William is buried or really much else about him, other than that he was in the war, had 3 wives, and at least 4 kids.

I am glad you enjoyed the picture. I was absolutely thrilled to get it. I went to a family reunion a few years ago, not having been to one in years. I was hoping to hook up with relatives that had old photos, specifically, one of CPT. I thought it was an extreme long shot. Well, sometimes dreams come true!

Thank you so much for the picture of Seaman Drew. He was such a handsome young man who looked barely old enough to be in the Navy. Are you related? Do you have any biographical information that could be added to his memorial? Again, thanks for taking the time to add this wonderful picture.
|Jo Ann Royal||RE: Columbia Hauff|
I just uploaded several pictures of her family to the sites, as well as ancestry.com, if you have access to that. they are under the Royal family. I also have some letters about Num and Otto's deaths, and other things of Maggie's family, which I will copy an can send you if you're interested.
