Meadows/Gibson connection
I am reseaching Reverend James G. Eden and wife Harriet Chapman listed in the 1850 census of Coosa County, AL. In working down their line I am hoping to find their connection to a Royal M. Gibson. Royal is listed living with Saphronia Williams and husband Sanford in 1850 in Coosa County, AL. Saphronia is a daughter of James G.and Harriet Eden. In 1860 Royal is living with the family of John J. Smith. (don't know anything about them) Can't find him in 1870, but in 1880 Tallapoosa County, AL he is living with Gilbert Middleton Meadow and Rebecca Eden Meadow and he is listed as Uncle. Rebecca is another daughter of of Reverend James G. Eden and Harriet. I don't know what the G. in James Eden is for--maybe Gibson. My line is Royal and Mary Gibson from Sumter County, SC and the Royal listed in above census records maybe a son. Not too many Royal Gibsons--so working on this. Royal had two wifes, Mary (she would be the mother of the man in question)and Lenore, his second wife. Royal died about 1835, Lenore remarried to a John Smith and moved to AL, she and her five Gibson children are living in the Smith household in 1850 in Pike County, AL. I have info on them but always searching for more. Royal Gibson, born in Sumter County, SC abt. 1775 is the son of John James Gibson and Jane Nesbitt. John James Gibson had a brother Phineas Gibson and much is on the forum about him as well as his Samuel Royal Gibson. Samuel Royal Gibson left Sumter, SC and moved to Pike County, AL. There his son James Milton Gibson married Elizabeth Eddins. So there is one tie in between the Gibson and Eden lines. She was the daughter of Richard Eddins (1784-1845). I am wondering why Royal Gibson (born about 1817 SC)stayed so close to the Eden families. How are they connected further back? From 1850 thru 1880, Royal was close by. Was Royal the uncle to Gilbert Middleton Meadon or to Rebecca Eden. Just one more thing, Middleton is a name used in the Gibson family. I know in census records usually the relationship listed is to the head of the house--but who knows for sure what was told to the enumerator.

Billy John Cook
Bobby - you have an open photo request for Billy John Cook, Perry Cemetery, Carrollton, TX. I was going to try to help as I see others have. Based on the problem reported, I did some research. This website lists all "known burials" in Perry Cemetery.

Billy John Cook is indeed buried there but no marker exists. I see other Cooks buried there with no marker. I am going to assume some object was used to mark the grave that was of a material that did not last.

Sorry amigo!

A.L. McCarley grave
I am a great great grand daughter of Amaziah and Mary McCarley and wondered if you could email me a high resolution image of the headstone you photographed. You did a great job and I don't know if I will ever be able to visit the cemetery myself...

Thanks so much!

RE: memorials moved
YES SIR! No I am not kin, just grew up around the Meadows' living in the village in Grantville. I still count Grantville as my home although I may never live there again. My Mom & Dad died at the house on Middle Street my senior year of high school. A few years ago, an older couple accidentally burned the house down.

RE: memorials moved
I moved the one's I had pics in my files that I put on there. One question, Sallie Maud Smith, couldn't figure out if she stays in John or goes to Samuel? There are a lot of dups in both, especially that I moved mine. Whom ever got Find A Grave to combine the two cems is the one who messed them up. You know I put some of mine on as far back as 2007. I have more unknowns than are on either cem. Let me know if anything else needs done.

J C Meadows Cem
Bobby, I finally got around to transferring all of the memorials I created for JCM to you. I never did any work at SM cem as I discover the impending "mess" before I got started. I hope this helps you.
