My name is Vickie. I grew up in Swannanoa, N.C. and now I live in Asheville. I enjoy researching family history and walking through cemeteries to read stones. Everyone deserves to be remembered. Someone somewhere loved them. Thanks to the great contributors here at Find a Grave, I have been able to see the graves of many family members that I would have never seen if it wasn't for their generosity. It is so nice to be able to visit a loved one's grave and not even leave the house.|
If any of my memorials contain errors, or if you have information to add, or you wish for a memorial to be deleted, please send me a message or an edit. All memorials are done with the utmost respect of those who have passed on and those of us left behind.
When my soul is restless
And things seem out of line,
I visit an old graveyard
To take a mystical step back in time.
I find the oldest tombstones
Then read the messages there;
I consider what their days had been
And how our lives in ways compare.
We all have lived though heartaches
As well as episodes of fun;
Surviving loss of loved ones,
And rewarded for a job well done.
Sometimes if I'm very still
I can hear what they have to say
And feel them reaching out to me
Grateful for my momentary stay.

thank you:-) yes that makes perfect sense. I thought perhaps there was a separate website where the more elaborate clip art had to be purchased.

She was my mother's mother's mother's mother; had four children, three boys and a girl. She died in approximately 1880 when my GGM was just 3 years old. I guess we are very distant cousins?

Where do you get the animated clip art and flowers? I would like to add one of those Marine art like on my uncle John to another uncles site.

Well, working with all the deceased in any given cemetery, I run across some contributors who bristle when they see an edit. Most contributors who are researching "just their families" stay within those families and don't stray into other people's links or "business". But with the county work we do (entire cemetery survey), it sometimes is part of it. Proofing a cemetery on findagrave sometimes leads to new friends...sometimes to adversaries, especially when duplicates show up. It's part of the bigger picture I suppose. But as long as I have miles between me and another's harsh words, that's all it is-harsh words. I suppose it makes a person stronger, eh? It's all done with the purpose of preservation and accuracy...Happy graving to you and be safe out in the field.

Hello. Great job on her obit! I saw an updated obit in the Hendersonville Times-News from 23 Sep 2014 that includes many of her relatives that the funeral home listing did not. I thought you might enjoy taking a peek. They have a new website for obits at www.legacy.com/obituaries/blueridgenow that you can easily find from their newspaper site www.blueridgenow.com
Thanks for all you do.

Vickie, thank you so much for the fine tuning of memorials on James Liston Mishoe in Horry County, SC (Cherry Hill Cemetery) and William Henry Teasdale in Laurel Grove, Savannah, GA (where many of my Asendorf ancestors are buried). Sorry it took me 2 days. I like to look also to see the source, and was able to locate an obit for James Liston Mishoe. Thanks much for your input. If you need anything in Horry County???......
Thank you for the info.
With best regards from Austria !
