I have transcribed Litchfield County, CT cemeteries from the Hale Collection because I'm looking for 18th Century collateral ancestors in our Birge, Fox, Hatch, Holcomb, Hindman, Hunt, Noble, Peck, Thompson, Wilcox, & Willson lines. If you are related to other families in these cemeteries, let me know & I will transfer ownership of memorials with your surnames to you so you can add information and links. I have many other Connecticut ancestors in central Connecticut cemeteries, where I will also transfer memorials unrelated to our family.

Most of my Connecticut memorials are copied from the Hale Collection, which transcribed all Connecticut tombstones during the Depression. The transcription is not error-free, but Hale was able to read things then which are no longer legible today.

The New Hampshire entries are all from Colonial Gravestone Inscriptions in the State of NH, by Mrs. Charles Goss (1942). None are close relations of mine, so if you want to make additions or corrections, please just request a transfer.

When contacting me about a specific memorial, PLEASE do so from the Edit:Corrections & Queries tab on the memorial itself. This makes it SO much easier for me to respond quickly & accurately.

Alexander Baker
Hi Linda,
Thanks for your contribution to the BAKER family.
Alexander Baker, (b1607), I have shown as my 9th time great grandfather. I also show that he was "Thomas Alexander Baker". There is an "Alexander Nathaniel Baker" born in 1607 listed. I'm somewhat confused and don't quite know wich way to turn.

I have only been doing my genealogy for 5 years. My family never discussed the Baker family past my grandfather. It was always a dark secret. As a result of my research I learned that my great grand had a 2nd marriage after she immigrated from the UK in 1886. She married a James Wilson Baker in Weare, NH. James adopted her two sons, Archibald (my grandfather) and Philip (his family also kept the secret).

Thanks so much for her story. She is a distant relative of my husband, and I also have distant relatives lost in the witch hunts of Salem.

Edmund Hawes
Linda Mac,
Hi. I saw your post that Edmund Hawes is your ancestor & thought I would invite you to my facebook group since he is a descendant of the Magna Carta, William The Conqueror, & Charlemagne. We have a private ancestry tree which we are writing a book about that includes Edmund Hawes.

Is SWOPE and SCHWAB the same last surname?
I ask because Col. George Michael "Michael" SWOPE you have parents as Johann George Schwab (1682 - 1782) and Anna Marie Keydel Schwab (1702 - 1782)

Thank You,
