Hello Helen,
May I have your permission to use your photo of Preserved Abell's gravestone in Newman Cemetery on my ancestry.com family tree, with attribution to you and Find a Grave? Thank you very much for your consideration. Gwen

John Joseph Martin
He was my 5th Great Grandfather. I heard about a the reunion that was held back East from a distant cousin. I would of liked to of been there. Concerning the stone, I am kind of skeptical of adding a stone to the memorial I created because there is no name on it. And I don't think he was buried in the Martin Cemetery. If you go to the Germantown Cemetery it states there are many field markers (unmarked) and only one I believe has an inscription. Thanks!

On the headstone, is there an inscription?

John Joseph Martin
I am relatively new to this site. So forgive if I sound silly. I am confused regarding John Joseph Martin's burial place. I found the same man, with same birth and death dates located in Germantown Cemetery in Fauquier Co. Same wife listed except last name spelled slightly differently. Can someone provide clarity? Thanks.

Re: John Joseph Martin 1691-1758 Find A Grave # 87696750

Hello Helen,
Just a quick note to thank you so very much for posting John Joseph Martin's Find A Grave memorial and photographing his gravestone. John Joseph Martin was my 7th Great Grandfather. There is quite a bit of family history here. He was married twice, both to twin sisters, Maria Catherine, who was 16 years old when she married John, they had 3 kids, then she died at age 19. Then John married Maria's twin sister, Maria Catherine "Eve" Otterbach in 1718 and they had 10 kids. Would you like me to submit all of this family info & their 13 childrens' names to you or would it be easier and more convenient for you if you transferred the memorial to me and I will add all the family info.

It must have been really educational and enjoyable to attend the Germanna group bus tour. Thanks again for posting this. I would have never known otherwise where my 7th Great grandfather was laid to rest.

James Johnson

Helen,

Thanks so much for looking for this stone. I am a Merriman descendant and Mahalath Merriman, who was married to Luke Johnson, is buried in Apple Creek. I was hoping that all of the Johnsons in that cemetery were most likely related. Often times the first name was not necessarily the commonly used name for a person and I was hoping that the stone would tell me where he was. Did you by any chance find the other Johnson graves? Thomas and Silas who died in the Civil war are buried there.

Thanks again.
Cathy

Thanks for the greate photo of Conrad and Mary's stones.
Turns out that this cemetery is duplicated at least 3 times on Find A Grave under Apple Creek Presbyterian (twice) and Old Presbyterian in Smithville.

The photos for them already existed in Smithville, but weren't as nice as yours, so I'm leaving well enough alone and made a request of the Find A Grave powers to merge the cemeteries.

Thanks again.
