Bio and Links
Bio Photo Family surnames I am currently researching: WININGER/WINEGAR, THORN/THORNE, POULSON, McINTYRE, SANDERS, BRANSON, BARNES, MILLS, CHAPPELL, MACY, PRICE, LANDERS, TUCKER, RENO, GREGOROSKI/GREGOSKI/GREGORSKI/GRZEGOZEWSKI, HARVILL, PARKER, COLLINGS, BROCK, WEAVER and SHEPHERD.

I am continuing research on a particular bit of the history of McDonald County, Missouri (sometimes called McDonald Territory) and have a page concerning their well-known attempt to secede from the State of Missouri, in 1961. (See the link given below.) Thank you to the then-Governor Orval Faubus of Arkansas who graciously offered to accept McDonald County into the State of Arkansas. "After all," he said, "it would offset the "bootheel." Oddly enough, to this day, McDonald County, although in Missouri, remains as a part of the Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers Federal Metropolitan Statistical Area. To me, the incident provided a fascinating story, which tied in to another interest: philately and cover collecting (local posts).

Current number of pending "EDITS": 203 (As of 12 DEC 2014)

Thank you to those who have checked and processed your edits!

9-22-2014 NEW RULE: Due to abuse, I am forced to stop accepting "blind" correction messages. If you have your message function blocked which prevents anyone from contacting you, and don't have an email address or some way to contact you, I will likely delete your message. Also, submitting 'proof' by saying that a previous memorial existing with different spelling, with no photos of the marker to verify, or anything else to say why your source is more accurate than mine - is not a reason for me to delete an entry I made five minutes earlier. I have no reason to doubt the survey/source that I took the research time to locate. If there is a photo in the correct cemetery, that's one thing. Also, keep in mind that simple courtesy and respect go a long way, considering we are all volunteers.

RE: Toney Cemetery
Neither cemetery is "in" Porum - they are both northeast of there, one about 7 miles, the other about 4 miles further.

Learh Rebecca Barringer Bowers
Thank you to all of the folks who contribute to Find a Grave.

My great grandfather was John Louis Barringer, a brother to Learh Rebecca Barringer Bowers.

I need proof for the DAR of John Louis Barringer's birth in Missouri 1859 or 1860 to Paul Monroe Barringer (McDonald County). I need a baptismal certificate, a copy of the family bible or some other record of the time.

There is proof that Mrs. Bowers' father is Paul Monroe Barringer. I need some other documentation that Mrs. Bowers is a sister to John Louis Barringer. Her obit on Find-a-Grave says she left 3 brothers--did the original document give their names? (they are John L, George Payton and Columbus Thornton.)

Can you help me find a document with Mrs. Bowers and John Louis Barringers names together?

Thank you again, it would mean so much to me to "prove" that Paul Monroe Barringer is John Louis Barringer's father.

Have a lovely day!!

Toney Cemetery
The four duplicates I sent earlier are all in the wrong Toney Cemetery. You have them in the Toney cemetery at coordinates 35.39220, -95.15780. The original, correct memorials - which have photos of the markers - are in the Toney cemetery at coordinates 35.43750, -95.10470.

The four remaining memorials you created at Toney are now suspect as well:
139681483, 139681553, 139681623, 139681869

Cemetery naming instructions
When new cemeteries are created here, the name should include the word "Cemetery" or "Burial Ground" or "Memorial Park", etc. in the name. So for this new cemetery, instead of "Osage Indian" it should have been named "Osage Indian Cemetery" as it is listed in Tyner's book. Doing it correctly the first time around means that no one has to submit a change request to management. Thanks.

RE: Powers
well what happened was i went to the "edit" and under suggest family members like parents, it would not allow me because it said you had already put in a request for edit. that could very well just be because you added as photo. it just wouldn't allow me to type in the message that i was a family member and had tons of information i could add. not your fault :-)
so i sent a message. well... we'll see.
are you in missouri? only because i read a lot of information you work on is there. i am in southern ca. and it's raining. and that song always says, "it never rains in southern california". :-)
