Bio

My name is Mike Daley and I am the great-great grandson of Mose Slaton Nunley. Mose established the Nunley Family Cemetery off of what today is called Airport Road on his land in Iuka, Mississippi around 1900 due to some type of family disagreement regarding the original Carpenter/Nunley Cemetery where his father William Nunley was buried.

My grandmother, Minnie Hilda Bacon was raised by Mose and his third wife Myra Jane until she was approximately six years old. My grandmother's mother, Minnie Alice Nunley Bacon is buried at the Nunley Family Cemetery.

My grandmother first took me to visit this cemetery in 1966 when I was a boy and many times thereafter. At the time I did not appreciate the family history nor legacy that was there but today I understand and have the same strong feelings. She died in 2005 so I am carrying on the tradition of placing flowers on her mother's grave site.

I have taken my son, daughter and granddaughter to the cemetery and hope that they too will understand the importance of our family history.
