Bio Photo I'm a Gadsden County native, having grown up in Concord and Havana. I'm a volunteer for the U.S. GenWeb Project, and I am the County Coordinator for Gadsden County, Florida's GenWeb page. I'm trying to locate, photograph, and index all of Gadsden County's cemeteries that have not been surveyed. I am uploading the photos to FAG as well as adding them to the Gadsden GenWeb page (

I would love to have photos of early Gadsden County residents for my Genweb site and would appreciate people sharing their ancestor photos with me.

RE: Edwards Family Cemetery, Gadsden Co
Angela -

The property on which the Edwards Cemetery is located is owned by Gordon E. Johnson.

Angela -

Sorry to be so long in getting back to you about your request.

The cemetery is on private land. I would have to look to confirm the owner. I think it was a man named Johnson. His house is located where 'Flat Creek Road' intersects with the 'Greensboro Highway'. If you look on Google Maps satellite setting, his house sits off the south side of Greensboro highway, a long way from the road with an open yard in front between the house and road. He has a gate at his driveway with a speaker. If someone is at home, they will answer it. He is aware that the cemetery is one his property.

If you go to the listing for the 'Edwards Family Cemetery' and click on the tab 'Map' at the top left of the screen, it should show you where it is located. You can scroll in and out to see more of the map. It is located near Gretna.

Yes, you have my permission to use the photos.

Thanks for leaving me your message.

Re: Andrew Gatlin
You added a photo to Andrew Gatlin Memorial# 23094319. The photo should be on another memorial as the dates do not match.

Many thanks, and have great weekend.

I do see his daughter is buried down that way so I suspect he is in that cemetery but for whatever reason he has a plot up in NC where his wife died several yrs is questionable for sure.

Also it appears I am the first to creat a memorial on him. But the lady who did the other does know the stone is there as you took it but she does not know if the body is really there. I ran into this issue with another person in the family so it is not unheard of thx and she is not family as far as I can tell

Hi you placed this stone up on this memorial. There may be an. Error . Do you know if there is a records of who is buried in that cemetery? Or r you near that you could who buried on either side of him? Thx for your time. This is a relative to our family and we have his widowed wife up in NC. So we thought he could be there too. I have info he did die down in FL but that he may have been brought to NC. The wife's plot has two burial spots in N C after she passes. Thx alesia

I want to thank you for your help in my finding my Great Uncle Wyett Merritt's grave. Because the Find A Grave listing said there was no stone, I finally after 14 months got a stone from the VA. When I went to the cemetery with your uncle I found someone had already put a marker for him, so he now has two markers. I photographed all graves and added pictures for the ones on the site that weren't pictured.
Again, thank you for your help.
PS We really enjoyed visiting with your uncle. Judy

Julia Slay Rudd
You posted a photo on memorial 117462410
for Julia Slay Rudd. That memorial is a duplicate of an earlier memorial. Can you please add your photo to the earlier memorial 116288373 Mary Julia Earnest Rudd. It's been confusing because of the way the headstone is inscribed. Julia is buried with 1st husband (Slay) but she was married to Rudd at the time of her death. That's why her name is inscribed as Julia Slay Rudd.
Thanks so much Liz (Slay Family)

Conrad Burghard
Bless you for the great photo of Conrad's memorial stone. I live in Arizona. Conrad's children are buried in Wisconsin and Minnesota. I am still researching the sad family story.
Thank you for your dedication and labors for this project.

Although this started out as a family project for me, I have ended up working on the history of several Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin county histories. It has been a great journey!

Conrad was my husband's great grandfather.

Thank you so much as you are appreciated,
Gail Wise Gittens

Charles Bass
Good Morning, I hope you are having a good day. I wanted to tell you I have transferred Charles Bass memorial to you. So glad he was finally connected to his wife. I am pretty sure I said in the bio, that we did not know where she was buried. Please do remove that.

Have a great weekend,

Winnette Bass Stinson
