I have been a volunteer for over 5 years, and I really enjoy it! I am in central Illinois, near the Ill.-Ind. line and visit graveyards within a 50 mile range. My cousins did a search of my maternal grandparents a few years ago, and traced them back as far as the Civil War. Think that was what got me interested. I would like to do a search of my paternal grand-parents, but it is nearly impossible. My grandparents came from Lithuania in 1895 and did not speak English. When they were registered in on arrival here, their name was listed phonetically, and on several papers we have in the family, there are various spellings. My family name was Polakes, and there may or may not be some of them still going by that name-- Meanwhile, I am happy to be helping others find their ancestors.

RE: Marietta graves
Thank you for your time in responding to my request, I totally understand what you said and agree with you it is virtually impossible to fulfill my request. I will try to remember this in the future and try to put a note on these request stating the impossibilities of getting photos. Thanks again Regards. Eugene

RE: Marietta graves
Hi Thank you for the information about the cemetery. Sorry to say but poor management of the cemetery, I'll bet they sure do know which lots are unoccupied so they can sell them. This is the first I have heard of where a cemetery doesn't know which section/lot that a person is buried.

Just info but I was able to find my 4th Great Grandfathers grave (1774-1850) went to the office and they looked it up with 15 minutes and told me exactly where to go within the cemetery, a few minutes later I was standing at his grave. How unique.

Any way please in this case just disregard my request. Thanks. Regards, Eugene
