I took over after my Aunt Geraldine Martinez passed. This is all new to me but I have become addicted in finding where my family members rest. No one should be forgotten.|
I was born in Alexandria, Virginia and now resides in Florida.
I am researching, on my fathers side of the family, Rhodes, Walters, Wright & Brockman in Virginia. On my mothers side, Lytle, Channing, Hayden & Moore in Pennsylvania. And for my Grandchildren, Greene, Caudill. Hutchinson & Vallance's in Kentucky.
I have noticed that I am not the only one impatient with the tokens coming up and I end up with two. I found that if you click on the flowers it will take you to a link to delete the extra one. =)
I have also found a link to calculate birth dates, so when you only have a date of death & the headstone gives you their years it will give you the date of birth. http://longislandgenealogy.com/birth.html
I have met the most wonderful people with Find-a-Grave. What a great family we have here. Thank you all for doing what you do.
Everyone has been so generous with their photos that I would like to reciprocate. You may use my photos in you family trees. All I ask is for a thank you and recognition from whom you got them.
Happy Hunting =)
Strangers in the Box
By Pamela A. Harazim
Come, look with me inside this drawer,
In this box I've often seen,
At the pictures, black and white,
Faces proud, still, serene.
I wish I knew the people,
These strangers in the box,
Their names and all their memories
Are lost among my socks.
I wonder what their lives were like.
How did they spend their days?
What about their special times?
I'll never know their ways.
If only someone had taken time
To tell who, what, where, when,
These faces of my heritage
Would come to life again.
Could this become the fate
Of the pictures we take today?
The faces and the memories
Someday to be tossed away?
Make time to save your pictures,
Seize the opportunity when it knocks,
Or someday you and yours could be
The strangers in the box.

You're very welcome! Feel free to use the photo in your family tree :)

You're welcome. You may use the photo. I did find a little info on her spouse Andrew on Newspaper Archive. He died 3 Nov 1895 in Wabash, Indiana. His funeral was in Elkhart 6 Nov. He has a brother named Dan. I did find a marker for Andrew J. Hibshman, same section, same death date, different spelling. #147448208.

Yes, please do use the photo.

Great to hear that the Murphey cemetery has again been found and thanks to Jerry for his hard work.
FYI, if you click on the photo of Edmund Murphey's tombstone on his memorial page, you will see my list of burials in the cemetery that I made in 1989. One burial had only a footstone with the initials A. R.

You have a pic of Rebecca and a young man in it. I would like to know who the young man is to put in with my family tree,

|Jerry ||Murphey Cemetery - Got it!!|
whewww! This was a tall task and I spent a hot afternoon tracing thru some woods and bushes but presto!! I found it, Jo. It was very exciting to be honest & I loved it. 5 stones are readable and even those took me some time to confirm. The canaopy of tall oak trees have protected the cemetery some. I've added the gps coordinates from the exact location and a brief description to findagrave. So, in a few days when they get to it...they will add all of that info to the "Murphey Cemetery" site on f.a.g. Sorry about not finding Absolom but Nancy was found. Hope you like the cemetery photo wide-shot I took. Hope this helps mam...Jerry
