I was born August 29, 1943 in Powell, Wyoming. I joined the US Navy in 1963 and spent 2 years in Southeast Asia in the Philippines and Vietnam. I then attended the U of Colorado for a year and a half under the NESEP program and was then transfered to Europe for 4 years, stationed at Rota, Spain. After that I was sent to Washington D.C. for 4 years. At that time I retired and attended Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma, where I attained a BS in Mortuary Science. I owned and operated two funeral homes, one in Moline, Kansas, and the other in Sedan, Kansas, for 26 years. I retired from the business in 2001. I am currently residing in Wichita, Kansas, and am an accountant for Wal Mart Corp.|
I am married, the father of two daughters. I have traced my ancestry back several centuries and am still in the process of chasing down my brickwalls.
As a former funeral director, I find cemeteries fascinating and love to contemplate past lives and histories of the families there.
I am more than happy to make corrections and add relationship links but am curtailing (not stopping) transferring memorials due to growing misunderstanding of what Find A Grave is about by those discovering the site for the first time. The time members have put into their efforts working together and sharing information is not up for grabs based on same-name surname or lineage and I will not do any of these type of transfers.

Regarding Elizabeth 'Betsy' Dutton Phillips. You have her listed as the wife of Orson Decatur Phillips. This is incorrect. Elizabeth 'Betsy' Dutton Phillips is the wife of Oliver Perry Phillips (Memorial# 91043279). The wife of Orson Decatur Phillips is Elizabeth Atkinson (Memorial# 120902901).
Hope this helps,

|Marina Dorcy Coffee||Fred Axtell|
I finally was able (delayed by illness) to fulfill your request for Fred Axtell today. I noticed an adjacent gravestone, same design, for Elva J Axtell. There is not F-a-G entry for Elva. If you want to create a memorial for her I will be glad to respond to the photo request.
Also, I noticed there are two other F-a-G listed Axtells without photos at El Toro Memorial Park: Claude D (1896-1978); and Agness Louise (1901-1975). If these are related folks you'd like photos for, just let me know.

I'm sorry to tell you that John Gruwell isn't buried at the City of Santa Clara Mission City Memorial Park Cemetery. I didn't see his name on the public rooster, but saw there was a large lot with several other Gruwell's including a Frank Grumell in the same lot (probably a misspelling) and several others with different last names in the same lot..which isn't unusual. But alas, even with the help of the Operations Superintendent, we couldn't find a John Gruwell 177-1853 in any of the placements. There is a Catholic cemetery close by with a similar name; Santa Clara Mission Cemetery, it is a lot older cemetery which might fit your dates. Good luck with your search. Dottie

Hi Del Huggins,
May I post your photo of John's gravestone? I always give full credit for pictures. Also, his first wife was Nancy Burris, born about 1810, died about 1865. They married on 28 Feb 1829 in Daviess County, IN. I don't believe Nancy's grave had been found yet. Thank you,
Del: I appreciate your kindness of transferring my cousins of the MILLS family. They have been added to their branch from the trunk of their mother's WOLVERTON family. Thank you so much & BLESS YOU!

Thank you for all the memorial you have added to Find A Grave. Because of you and people like you who post memorials, it becomes possible to locate the graves of seemingly lost family members. Thank you.

Thank you so much for transferring Abraham Ireland's memorial to me.
|John Miller||West Family part 2|
I should have told you I live in Ohio. Kate Miller, my father's aunt, married George West and went to Kansas sometime around the late 1800's. Among other children they had a Sam and Earl. I'm trying to figure out if this is the correct people. It certainly fits well.
