RE: Wrong Spouse
In Sept of 2011 I went to the Franklin Cemetery and took photos of all readable memorials and they are posted. I will be going to Wesley Chapel Cemetery one day next week and look for the Denny Wayne Moore that you requested.

RE: Walnut Grove
Thank you for the history. I knew that the cemetery had a long history, but was not aware that it is a make up of three different ones. A while back I went and photographed all of the graves to the right side of the church and posted them. So I have taken all of the memorials in the Smith Creek and the Hixson Cemeteries.

Census for Sallie
First two with family, 1870 as widow:

1850; Census Place: District 24, De Kalb, Alabama; Roll: M432_5; Page: 385B; Image: 127.

1860; Census Place: Northern Division, De Kalb, Alabama; Roll: M653_9; Page: 41; Image: 41; Family History Library Film: 803009

1870; Census Place: Township 6 Range 9, De Kalb, Alabama; Roll: M593_15; Page: 881A; Image: 149; Family History Library Film: 545514.

I am altering my database to WILBURN because it is more consistently recorded that way in records.

These people did not leave death certs, but the "traditional" attribution of two surviving daus, Sarah Ann and Susanna Rosamund, was accepted by genealogist Arthur Jackson Slaton and by me. Their grandmother was named Rosamund (Pugh). It is unlikely that there will ever be a "proving" document to confirm this, simply because virtually every Slaton family at the time had a dau named Sarah. The proximity in census is strongly suggestive of this connection.

1860; Census Place: Northern Division, De Kalb, Alabama; Roll: M653_9; Page: 41; Image: 41; Family History Library Film: 803009

The above census page shows Sallie on same page with prob bros Elisha and Samuel. Her prob after Elisha d 1833, only a few years after her birth. Her prob mother Susan, poss an EVANS, was b abt 1789.

RE: SLATON
All of this family can be found at RootsWeb WorldConnect, in database "cslayton_ajs." There is no doubt that this Sally is the sister of an Elisha and the daughter of an Elisha.

There was no Jeremiah Slayton among the "southern" families that died in the Civil War, the only Jeremiah that I am aware of lived and died in Tuscaloosa AL, much later than any of this family. I do not know the source of this information you have been given about a Jeremiah, but I would need to see a citation for anything showing a Jeremiah that is a Slaton who d in the Civil War and produced a daughter. I have spent over 23 years working these families using original (not transcribe) records and have never seen this data.

Sarah Slaton Wilburn
This is not the correct way to do genealogical queries, because you are not correcting a memorial.

Your question as to a relationship with Elisha Slaton: Elisha Slaton of GA>DeKalb co AL had a dau who mar John H WELLBORN, acc to my records, and produced a son Samuel Sylvester WELLBORN.

I did some further checking and I see no relationship to your Sarah Slaton Wilborn. I have an ancestry accout and checked the 1850 & 1860 census, as well as some family trees. I do not see a Sarah listed anywhere. If you have any information, such as birth, death, spouses full name, location, I would be willing to check on ancestry if you do not have an account. Good luck!
