My name is Ellen. I live in the Bristol County area of Massachusetts which is centrally located between Boston, MA and Providence, RI. |
Gravestone photography is one of my favorite hobbies. Nothing like spending a weekend afternoon browsing the gravestones in a cemetery! I'd much rather do this than shopping in a mall or doing household chores! :-) Many times I add a cemetery research excursion while on vacation too! If there is a way to fit in a "side-trip", I will find it!
I am a member of ancestry.com; where much of my research comes from. Years ago. before computers, it was different. My research back then was by snail mail and going to town halls and libraries. I have kept every bit of correspondence with my older relatives as well. Unfortunately the elders are disappearing and my generation is becoming the older generation.
I am active with the DAR and CDXVIIC, and have coordinated several DAR and CDXVIIC graveside markings as well.
I have added flowers and the "tree of life" to many of my ancestors' gravestones in Findagrave. If you happen to notice you are also related to me, please contact me, as I would love to hear from you. I like "collecting cousins"!
As many of you agree, a gravestone may be the only thing left in the world to remind us of someone who has departed.
I am very interested in viewing gravestones with the surname NOEL, NEWELL, TAILLON, LATAILLE and ALLAIRE. If you find any of these while on your treks through graveyards and cemeteries in New England, please contact me and post them.
I am also interested in seeing gravestones with the DAR and Colonial Dames insignia.
Thank you in advance!
Family names in New England I am researching are:
RANDALL, MASON, HUTCHINS, LAYR, MOYE, NEWELL, NOEL, ALLAIRE, TAILLON, HAMILTON, PERKINS, CHAPIN, PHILLIPS, ASHTON, IRELAND, ...on and on it goes.

Samuel C. Fowles was the s/o Joshua Fowler (b. June 21, 1733 in Woburn, Middlesex, Mass.) and Abigail Colby (b. July 24, 1737 in Newbury, Essex, Mass.)
Samuel married Lydia Molly Hutchins Sept. 21, 1786 in Edgecomb, Maine. Several children were born to the couple in Whitefield, Me.
Lydia has been the mystery lady. Little has been found about her so far before her marriage.
Samuel & Lydia being my 3rd g- grandparents, their dau. Hannah (Fowles) Hallowell my 2nd g- grandmother, Hannah's son F. Dana Hallowell & wife Ida May Bowman being my g- grandparents, their dau. Edna May Hallowell and Clarence A. Perkins my grandparents, their only son Charles Dana Perkins being my father.

You may use any photos I've added to Findagrave. I don't care about credit. let me know if you desire management of the memorial. If you do, give me your number and that of the memorial.

Saw you have Perkins & Hutchins listed as names of interest. Samuel C. Fowles and Lydia Hutchins are my 3rd great grandparents. Their daughter Hannah married Greenlief Hallowell Feb. 7, 1835. Their son Frederick Dana Hallowell was father to my grandmother Edna M. (Hallowell) Perkins. My last name being Perkins. Please leave a message or contact me through a memorial we maintain if you would like. Thank you for your time.

|Shawn||Samuel Bishop Memorial# 35542846|
Thanks for posting some great pics of stones in the Old Kirk Yard, at Attleboro. Please re-look at the pic you posted on Samuel Bishop memorial# 35542846. The pic is of another Samuel.. Samuel Tiffany memorial# 67808008 who died Jan. 9, 1781. The patron that posted the memorial of Samuel Bishop (I have sent a edit to), needs to change it to a non-burial as noted in the title page to Old Kirk Yard .."was established in 1744, although a grave from 1736 was moved here". Samuel Bishop died in Jun. 9, 1726 before the start of this cemetery, and couldn't have been buried there. Most likely buried nearby, just not there. Could you remove your pic, not to confuse others of wrong stone. Maybe add it to Samuel Tiffany. I appreciate your assistance taking pics.

I see you have taken photos of this cemetery (North Conway, NH). I cannot for the life of me find an address for it. I will be visiting the area this summer and would love to come and visit as some of my relatives "Mudgett" were buried there. Please let me know a physical address or directions if you can!
Thank you kindly!

My mother was born and raised in Mansfield, and my father in Norton. I will be going out to bury my mother in April, so I will be in the neighborhood. I have two cousins that are also interested in genealogy, so they grab photos when they can. I also have relatives in Lancaster and Leominster, which I am hoping to meet soon. I have pretty much the entire state to search for burials lol. My boyfriend and I are planning on a field trip to Lowell the weekend after this coming one. :D
