I have always been interested in family history, asking questions since I was a little girl. I took a genealogy class at church, and that was when my life changed forever. I was introduced to the computer, and the internet.
I have found people I didn't know. I found out their life stories, some of which really surprised and at times shocked me. I have also found living cousins who share my passion or a better word now is addiction.
I have also met some wonderful friends.

But, with the good comes the bad. I have also met some really mean people too. And, in this wonderful business of searching out and preserving our family history, this makes me sad.

I do want to point out, that I appreciate all of the volunteers who have created these memorials, and the volunteers who take and post photos on this site. As in anything worthwhile, it really does take a village. We cannot do all of this alone.

With that said, I am not a "collector" of memorials, of people I am not in some way related to, or do not know. I only want to manage family, which includes extensions of my family. If I have a duplicate, it was NOT created on purpose. If I am aware of one, I try to rectify that, and ask for cooperation, not a power struggle over "ownership". To me, that is either silly, or selfish. I also don't need anyone to lecture me. I am an adult. I have reasonable thinking abilities, and I am willing to work with anyone if approached in a respectful, and courteous manner.

I understand the "guidelines" of Find-A-Grave, for direct family lines, and transfers.
I personally feel that family memorials should be willingly and lovingly transferred to family members. We are the ones who truly care about them.

I do not need to "Own" all of them, but I do want them to be as correct as possible, therefore,I have done a lot of edit requests.

I always leave a flower on their memorials, out of love, respect, and as a reminder that I was there to provide correct information and family links.

My core family names are: On my father's side, White,Sarvis,Kay,Heffner. My mother's side, Deicken, Hellweg, Walkenhorst, Kemner.

If I can be of help to anyone, please ask.
Carol Lynn

RE: Lois J. Smith #133504356
Your welcome! Cowley County, got back to me as well about Rosa White, they wanna say she is buried in Dexter Cemetery but it is unsure where she is exactly at, the only thing they could find on her was an obituary, and the church is still standing they did her service in, but they mentioned it changed it's name, so I will call tomorrow and see what I can find out. They had a fire years ago, that burnt some of their burial records, some are gone and some they were able to save.

RE: George Washington Smith
Hi Carol. Sadly, I have not heard back from the other owner of George W. Smith. I don't have to be the caretaker of the memorial, if you would like it. It is surely wonderful to find a living relative, sort of. If you send me your email, I'll send George's picture to you. I put it on and now everyone has it on their trees if they have George. I devided a picture of 6 children into 6 portraits. Hope I hear from you, your side relative, Shirley

Jennie C Devault
My husband's grandfather, Thomas Ray Dancer, was married to a Jennie C Devault. Were they divorced? Did they have any children? TR Dancer was then married to Erna Nehls. He was her 3rd husband. Found a Jennie C. Devault married to Schiffbauer. Do you know anything about these marriages? Since TR Dancer died in 1934, we don't know a lot. My husbands mother, Esther Dancer, died in 2014 and she was 9 when he died. TR Dancer and Erna Nehls had 2 daughters together, Garnet Dancer Gallis and Esther Dancer Marnell both from Fayette County, PA. We have tried to find gravesite of TR Dancer in Smithfield, PA, but no success. Picture of gravesite on find a grave, but not able to locate it. Caretaker at Mt Moriah Baptist has no record of where to find it. Any help is appreciated. Many thanks!

RE: John Hartney
Hi Carol Lynn-
I have the photo for Dorothy, although it didn't turn out as nice as John's due to the sun glare. I didn't realize that until I got home. I can upload it & you can let me know what you think. I will retake the photo, but it won't be until next weekend.
