I have always been interested in family history, asking questions since I was a little girl. I took a genealogy class at church, and that was when my life changed forever. I was introduced to the computer, and the internet.
I have found people I didn't know. I found out their life stories, some of which really surprised and at times shocked me. I have also found living cousins who share my passion or a better word now is addiction.
I have also met some wonderful friends.
But, with the good comes the bad. I have also met some really mean people too. And, in this wonderful business of searching out and preserving our family history,this makes me sad.
I do want to point out, that I appreciate all of the volunteers who have created these memorials, and the volunteers who take and post photos on this site. As in anything worthwhile, it really does take a village. We cannot do all of this alone.
With that said, I am not a "collector" of memorials, of people I am not in some way related to, or do not know. I only want to manage family, which includes extensions of my family. I am still fairly new on this site, and I am learning through trial and error to make sure my memorials are correct. If I have a duplicate, it was NOT created on purpose. If I am aware of one, I try to rectify that, and ask for cooperation, not a power struggle over "ownership". To me, that is either silly, or selfish. I also don't need anyone to lecture me. I am an adult. I have reasonable thinking abilities, and I am willing to work with anyone if approached in a respectful, and courteous manner.
I understand the "guidelines" of Find-A-Grave, for direct family lines, and transfers. This should also include our spouses family. It is silly to me that we have to have two separate accounts to achieve the same goal.
I personally feel that family memorials should be willingly and lovingly transferred to family members. We are the ones who truly care about them.
I do not need to "Own" all of them,but I do want them to be as correct as possible, therefore,I have done a lot of edit requests.
I always leave a flower on their memorials, out of love, respect, and as a reminder that I was there to provide correct information and family links.
If I can be of help to anyone, please ask.

Did you mean Hannah is not Virgil's wife?

Ok, thanks for getting back to me. I'll accept the link request as is and then go in and manually change the mother to Rena. (-:
These things happen sometimes when cutting and pasting the memorials numbers. When something looks odd with an edit request, I always try to check to see if the wrong memorial number was pasted in the box.
Have a great day and thank you for your contributions to FindAgrave.

I received your requests for edits for Winnie Phelps, but just wanted to check with you. In particular, the requested links for Winnie's parents. Your request is for:
Father: David Phelps (1865-1932) Find A Grave Memorial# 83210073
Mother: Nellie Marie Playle Renshaw
(1906 - 1976) Find A Grave Memorial# 83209945
I researched the family of David Phelps in the 1930 census and it shows:
David B. Phelps, age 59, born NY, father England, mother NY
Rennie Phelps, wife, age 49, born AR, father OH, mother OH
Winnie Phelps, daughter, age 7, born AR, father NY, mother AR
Going back to the 1920 census, Nellie Playle was shown as a step-daughter of the HOH David Phelps. Others living in the household were: Rena Phelps and Georgia Playle, who I assume were Nellie's mother and sister.
So is Nellie Playle really Winnie's mother? Or is Rena Find A Grave Memorial# 83210027
Sorry, just very confused about this request. I don't have a birth certificate to confirm, but from census records it appears that Rena is her mother.

|Ginny Berry||Middle name|
I meant the spelling, but I found it on her marriage certificate. I did not find anything that had "Bertie" listed.
|Ginny Berry||Middle Name:|
Pearl Chandler. Did you mean the middle name to be Bertrice?

Thank you for the link to the Jezek family tree on Ancestry.com! Yes, that is my family. Mary Teresa and Albina were my great-grandmother Matilda's sisters. I'll need to contact the tree manager as all of them have since passed away. Photos of Matilda's gravesite are on Find-A-Grave as she too is buried at the Bohemian cemetery in Diagonal, IA. As are my grandmother Irene Hilliard, my uncle Jerry Hilliard and Albina and probably most of the other Jezeks.
Maybe you and I are related too? If you want to contact me directly, I can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.

I do not own the photo of the headstone. You will need to contact dukemeiser (name under the photo). The only one I posted was the marker for the Bohemian Cemetery.
BTW, I see that Erma's mother's maiden name was Jezek. My great-grandmother Mathilda Zaruba's maiden name was also Jezek. She had four sister and one brother. The youngest sister was Albina. I don't know the names of the others. Would you know if Erma's mother was one of the other sisters?
