Bio Photo Please use the SAC function (edit button on memorial) to request transfers, and be sure to let me know specifically how you are related.

I volunteer at Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta, and am working on photo-documenting the whole cemetery. At this point, I prefer not to transfer memorials for this cemetery (other than mandatory transfers, of course) because my research is ongoing. In the meantime, please feel free to send me as much additional info as you wish via the edit button on the memorial.

NOTE: Obituaries are a wonderful source of information, but findagrave has rules about how they may be used. You can always glean facts from them for the bio. If they are out of copyright, or if you hold the copyright, you can transcribe them. Regardless of who has the copyright, you are not supposed to post them as a photograph - regardless of whether you scanned it, took a screen shot, or downloaded it from another website. Please feel free to send me obit text via the edit function, and I will use the info to add to the bio. Obits posted as photos will be removed, and it just ends up wasting your time.

I received your email regarding his burial. He is definitely buried at Congregation Agudas Achim. I sent an email to the original creator and told him we could merge them (he would need to move his memorial) or he could delete his since mine has more information and the funeral home marker. I will let you know when I hear from him. Unfortunately, there are many duplicates because of those two cemeteries.

RE: Ray links at Oakland
Yes I do. May (Mary Slater (Slatter) Ray died 02 Oct 1935 in Jacksonville, FL. Her niece, May Butler Curtiss, and family lived there. Mary F. Slatter (born 1852) married Claudius B. Ray (born 1851) in 1885. She visited her sister Mrs. W.M. Butler (Daisy Bell Slatter) in Nashville along with brother John Thomas Slatter Jr. I have newspaper clippings showing their relationships. The problem with the Census is they don't always spell the names correctly or they're transcribed correctly. The years of their ages tend to be "imaginative."
I remember reading your description of the Cemetery office. At Forest Hills in Chattanooga, they are way more organized, but still I had to ask them where the cremated remains of John Thomas Slatter Jr.'s second wife was interred. She was the last one buried and without a marker. They had to figure that out. She was in with her husband. Possibly that is what happened there in Atlanta.
I can add the "Death Certificate" to her site.

RE: Wrong photo
Thanks for letting me know, I have corrected the photo. Sorry for the confusion. I am now double checking before I leave a marker.

RE: edit for Mrs Carroll
Hello, I believe this is William S. Carroll's first wife, Julia Downs Carroll. If she is listed as Mrs. W S Carroll I wasn't sure to change it to Julia. William S. Carroll is my first cousin 3x removed.

RE: George Washington Bolger
Would you please also add (Stone's River) beside the entry next to Murfressboro? Since there were 3 battles at Murfressboro, it might help to clarify just slightly. I had to go re-read the CSSR's. I was thinking he was wounded after Chickamaugua. And it was actually before, and he returned to duty at got himself on the CROH rolls!

I think my dates are correct - if not she would have died before she was born. I almost always look up everything on Ancestry to make sure. I think that is why I have a specific date of birth.
