A member of the Permian Basin Vietnam Veteran's Memorial in Midland, Texas. I am researching all 228 men who died in Vietnam from 30 West Texas Counties. Project includes finding burial sites.|
I am also attempting to locate the final burial places and pictures of all Veterans who died in the Vietnam War. The Vietnam Veteran's Memorial Fund is in the process of building a new education center which will house the photos of all Vietnam casualties. I am involved in this project. If any one has a picture of a Vietnam casualty, please let me know.
I am attempting to add memorial tributes to those Vietnam deaths as I find them at findagrave. I am using data from many sources. One of the best is www.virtualwall.org. This is a copyrighted site. I have been a 10 year contributor and assist them when and where I am asked. I am not on their staff. I have obtained permission to utilize some of their material. That permission, however, is limited and does not give other contributors the permission to copy and use that material without obtaining authorization from www.virtualwall.org.
Other sources includes Department of Defense Form 1330 headstone request information. I do not have actual copies of these requests but do have means to obtain copies from other researchers such at www.virtualwall.org and Robert Sage of Austin, Texas. This information, however, was documented a short time following the death of the service member. There have been instances where a service member was disinterred and moved to another grave site at a later date. Some of the information gives a burial locale and not a specific cemetery. In those instances, the headstone was most often delivered to the Funeral Home, or when delivered to a family member, they made their own arrangements to the set the headstone.
Other sites that I utilize is the Wall Project at www.vvmf.org. This is the actual site of the Wall. Some of the information includes other contributors who have documented information there. I attempt to give credit as I can.
Other sites include www.thewall-usa.com. Finally, I have utilized information from family, friends and acquaintances to document the Vietnam casualty's final resting place. Invaluable is the contribution of the findagrave community. These volunteers have assisted in actually locating and documenting burial sites.
There are occasionally errors and omissions, but I will correct that when I receive creditable information.

I am trying to find any living relatives of Warren F. Brown. I am trying to get a picture of him and a short story depicting what Warren was like growing up to put on my blog at www.patrickbieneman.com.

Hello! This is just to let you know that I've added a headstone photo for Kenneth Joe Hammond, #77283456.
Thank you again for all you do to memorialize vets on this site.
Thank you for the notes about Lamoine Sandvig. I do not know where the WALL is but might it be Washington D.C.?

Many small Catholic Churches will have their burials in a larger Church cenetries. Many small churches in Thibodaux bury in St Joseph cemetery for example as they have no cemetery of their own. Some cemeteries are known by more than one name, but I could find no record for this one. Thank you for moving it. It is unfortunate that your record seems to have wiped out the original record which had photos attached. Thank you for your help and for the work you do. My husband was a Vietnam vet and is buried in Arlington National, Lester S. Folensbee.

I'm hoping to get his Find A Grave memorial transferred to me. He is related through a marriage. I've now done up memorials for both his parents. Very sad to have died so young. I am wondering how the 2 photos ended up on his memorial page and if either person knew Kenneth well or served with him in Vietnam. Thanks for your great work connecting relatives to these men who served.

Great . . . you just verified what I'd found out earlier today about his parents. I'd found a Kenneth Abmeyer, age 4, listed with Ronald & Beulah Abmeyer on "a ship list" from 1950. Keep up the good work. :)

Thank you sir for your diligence and interest in documenting the burials of veterans. I served two tours of duty in Southeast Asia 1968-1971 and lost a lot of friends, Thank you again for caring!!!

You posted a photo of this young man on his memorial page, so am wondering if you knew him or knew of him. I'm trying to connect him to 2 others buried at Floral Haven who MIGHT actually be his parents. Kenneth was born in 1946 and died in Vietnam in 1967. Hope you can help. Thanks very much.
Billy, it would be easier to correct any errors if you use the EDIT tab. That way one wouldn't have to search for the memorial.
