While I had used Findagrave for several years, I finally became a member while working on a church history project. Later, I added memorials for my family, and then, I started photographing and adding entire cemeteries. My main interests are my family cemeteries and African-American cemeteries.

Please use the EDITS tab at the top of the memorial page if you want changes made or memorials transferred to you.

Fairview Cemetery in New Albany, IN, has been completely photographed. Most plats are already finished being added. There are just a few still in the process. Cemeteries that have been completely photographed (except for new burials) and added are:

Clark Co., IN

Floyd Co., IN
Finley or Findley
Grant Line United Methodist Church
Holy Trinity (rear half only)
Saint Mary Catholic, New Albany

Lincoln Co., KY

Memorial 117875363 Nancy C. Brown looted grave
You may wish to learn concerning this memorial of yours that the Indiana Dept. of Natural Resources is investigation the looting of this grave! See below. See also her memorial for their photo (which is public record) which I added to the site. DNR is trying to locate living relatives. Perhaps this will help in that regard.

Indiana Conservation Officers Investigating Grave Looting (Harrison County).

Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating after a grave was unearthed in a rural cemetery in Harrison County. With no suspects, Conservation Officers are seeking help from the public, in hopes of bringing justice to the person or persons who destroyed the gravesite.

Earlier this spring, Indiana Conservation Officers were called to a vast, wooded tract of land in southeastern Harrison County, where a landowner had made a startling discovery. The gravesite of Nancy Brown, who died in 1881, at the age of 47, had been completely exhumed.

Indiana Conservation Officers, along with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Archaeologists, conducted a survey of the gravesite and collected evidence, which was sent to the laboratory for analysis. Due to the remote location of the cemetery, an exact timeframe of when the damage occurred is unknown.

The Harrison County Public Library Genealogy Department lent their assistance with tracing genealogy of Brown’s family. To date, no living relative has been located.

Anyone with any information concerning this case is encouraged to contact Indiana Conservation Officers’ Central Dispatch at 812-837-9536, or their anonymous tip line at 1-800-TIPIDNRÂ FREE.

RE: Sarah C. Burris VanWinkle
I didn't originally add the gravestone photo for the Sarah E. but I sent a message to the lady that did and asked her to remove them.

Charlotte Whalen transfer please
Would you please transfer Memorial 63281316 to me ? This is my great great grandmother. According to the 1900 census, she stated she was born Jun 1815 in SC.

Her obit reads:

At Ripe Old Age
Mrs. Charlotte Whalen ninety-five years of age and one of the oldest residents of the city, died yesterday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Greenaway, 1118 Shelby street. Her death was due to the infirmities of advanced age.

Mrs. Whalen was a native of South Carolina, but had lived in this city for three quarters of a century. Besides Mrs. Greenaway, she is survived by two sons, James Whalen, of Monroe City, Ind., and John Whalen, who lives in Missouri. She was the widow of Edward Whalen.
