Various Ludwig Tomer family memorials
Hi Margaret - now that you are retired, do you want me to transfer your Ludwig Tomer family memorials to you (or anyone else in the family)? I don't mind keeping them for as long as you want, but if you are doing more work, you may want them back. Just let me know. As I run into them, I can transfer them or you can send the request through the edit system (easiest way to do it for me). J.

Examine your picture for chair on far right. Does it have lion heads on both arm handles? It is similar to a picture with my ggm Kate Cunningham, chair handles have lions heads and claws on the bottom of chair feet. We are trying to locate that picture.

Recently you requested a transfer of unknown memorial from Mount Saint Marys, Kansas City, no answer back.
I am researching Cunningham, O'Donnell, McNellis, etc. from Kansas City to Chicago. Keep in touch, as we may crossover on Saint James Cem. there back to Pennsylvania.

Hi Margaret, I came across one of Joseph's and Judith's daughters, Marie. I created a memorial and transferred her memorial over to you since you manage her parents' memorials. I also sent you Joseph's obituary that I found in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle.

I did not even think about it being an "O". So that makes sense. As to the number of requests, it definitely varies. When I started working on the cemetery, there were around 900 requests. I've added around 6,000 memorials and around 13,000 photos, but I have barely scratched the surface. I usually work as a lawn mower. I mow the rows, and requests get fulfilled as I finish a section.

Here is a another map of the cemetery that shows where I have worked and photographed. So far, I have been the only to upload to BillionGraves.com for this cemetery, except for maybe a couple of photos:

https://billiongraves.com/cemetery/Oak-Woods-Cemetery-and-Confederate-Mound/180710#cemetery_id=180710&lim=0&num=20&order=asc&action=browse

If your section is O4, then it looks like I was on the opposite end of the cemetery from where you want the photo.

Anyway, good luck finding someone to help!

Hi Margaret,

Yes, unfortunately I am not in Chicago for a while. I also do not have anyone who does this type of work in Chicago as a resource for you. While I understand your niece's reservations about going into the area, I can assure you the cemetery is quite safe. I have visited many times, and in fact live only a mile or so away as the crow flies in Hyde Park. Now, I wouldn't recommend your niece walk down the street, but the cemetery is entirely walled off and has security, which she could have accompany her to the site if she feels unsafe. Now, this may in no way convince her, but the cemetery is safe.

As to your location on the memorial, you list him as in Sec. 04. Looking at the map, and from what I remember of the cemetery grounds, each section has a letter and a number, as in A1 or F4. Here is a link to a map I use: http://www.wwjohnston.net/famhist/gibson-johnston/Oakwoods%20Cemetery-Johnston%20marked.jpg

You might need to see if you can double-check his burial location so that someone who is doing the searching can find it easily enough. This is a massive cemetery.

Sorry I cannot help more, but if you have no luck, let me know in 2017!
