Updated September 12, 2014|
Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery (ALNC), Elwood, Will Co., Illinois...
The following Sections are the currently active burial sections (opened for interments on the dates listed):
Section 11, August 2012
Section 12, October 2012
Section 6B, November 2012
Section 14, June 2013
Columbarium 7, Wall 1, April 2014
Columbarium 7, Wall 2, May 2014
Columbarium 7, Wall 3, June 2014
Columbarium 7, Wall 4, July 2014
Columbarium 7, Wall 5, August 2014
Columbarium 7, Wall 6, September 2014
I'll upload grave-site photographs for these Sections without the need for photo requests.
Note: Please refrain from requesting a photograph until at least 4 months after interment to allow the professional grounds-keepers time to engrave and install marker stones (or niche covers), lay sod, and generally make the gravesites presentable for photographing. If I have not uploaded a photo by by the 4-month mark, please do request a photo.
July 2014 - For the last several months the cemetery has been working diligently to re-sod ALL of Section 5 and Section 8. This includes raising the hight and leveling of all 6,000 marker stones, removeing the old grass/weeds, leveling the ground with good black dirt and laying sod. Then it will need watered for several weeks before those sections are ready to be photographed. They are raising and leveling the stones in Section 7 now, so I suspect they will be doing the sod think there next.
Thank you for your patience.

Biographical information belongs in the "bio" field or in other text fields on the MAIN memorial page.
Please do NOT post pictures of text to any of my memorial pages (Example: Do NOT post pictures of; obituaries, death notices, news paper articles, death certificates, remembrance cards, etc.).
Also, do NOT post biographical information in the Flowers section. This too, belongs in the appropriate text fields on the main page.
Forward the information using the "Edit" tab and appropriate link. I'll ensure it is added to the memorial page in a prompt, accurate and professional manner.
Do NOT post non-photograph graphics to the photo section (such as military emblems, membership emblems, flags, candles, etc). These types of graphics waste the 5 free "photo" slots provided by findagrave.com.
Family members should NOT have to sponsor a memorial page (cost $5.00) in order for them to upload a favorite picture simply because someone uploaded a non-photograph graphic or a picture of text to the photos section of the memorial page.
Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This does not include Cousins, Aunts or Uncles. Nor does it include your neighbor or BFF.
"The goal at Find A Grave should NOT be to manage all of your family members. If you have information to add, you should suggest it to the current manager and they should make the changes."

Please respect my photographs, they are for your personal use only. Do NOT copy them to this or any other internet website; do NOT sell them, or otherwise attempt to profit from their use without written permission.
For example: Do NOT charge your relatives a "handling" or "printing" fee to obtain a copy of your family tree if it contains one of my photographs.
In summary, do NOT take credit for any photograph that you did not physically take yourself.
I live in north-central Illinois, within 2 miles of the intersection of I-80 and I-55. I enjoy researching my family tree (9,000+ and growing).
My father's family is from Allegheny and Armstrong counties in western Pennsylvania. My mother's family is from Charles County, in southern Maryland.
We have limbs, branches, and roots that stretch across the United States. Most however, settled in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, and California.
I enjoy taking cemetery, historical site, and other photographs. I am willing to assist with reasonable gravesite and non-gravesite photo requests; I will also consider the unreasonable requests.

Thank you so much for the new picture you have taken. I am not able to visit his grave regularely, I appriciate it very much.
I had assumed I would see a stone, but i guess its not up yet. about how will it be until the stone is placed? Thanks again.
|Rhonda Witwer||RE: John Russell Oswald|
Thanks much. I appreciate your help. I also deleted the duplicate picture on another memorial. Thanks for letting me know.
|Rhonda Witwer||John Russell Oswald|
I took pictures this weekend of the gravestones for John Russell Oswald and Wilma Lowe Oswald at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery (opposite sides of the same stone). As I was uploading the photos, I found a duplicate memorial for John Russell Oswald, your memorial #72566365 and an earlier memorial # 35676621. The earlier memorial has a biography that matches this stone except for the birth date. Do you agree that this is a duplicate and how would you recommend it be resolved? I'll post the pictures anyway but wanted to alert you to the question. Thanks for helping to resolve this. Rhonda

|Martin W Johnson||will county illinois veteran burials|
the Illinois state archives has transcribed the Illinois state civil war muster rolls detailed inf. online at their databases website. also the 1929 Illinois veteran burial list. but the Illinois state archives also sells a 1956 Illinois state veterans commission Illinois veteran burials updated lists. each microfilm roll has one or more counties on it. each county is by cemetery, then a detailed A - Z list. a xerox copy of a counties 1959 veteran list can also be bought. the 1959 list is more complete than the 1929 list on line.
|Raquel Brinson||Thank you!!|
Thank you for taking a picture of my grandfathers grave. I am not able to get to the cemetery due to it's location. Now I am able to see the headstone and I feel better.
Thank you again so much!

I'm sorry--that message did go to you by mistake. It was supposed to go to Diane, who added the memorial I used to send the message...but I neglected to check as to whether she had transferred it...which she had. I'll get the message to the right person this time.
