Bio and Links
Bio Photo The Arrowhead Valley Chapter was organized on December 7, 2002, from the Arrowhead and San Bernardino, California chapters. Both chapters had long and illustrious histories.
The Arrowhead Chapter was organized on April 19, 1917, the anniversary of the Battle of Lexington and the "shot heard round the world." The organizing regent was Mrs. Irving Davis.
The San Bernardino Chapter was organized soon after, on March 20, 1920, with Mrs. Anna Boley Garner as organizing regent.
These two venerable chapters merged December 7, 2002 to form a very dynamic chapter.
As you will notice, many of the entries on Find-A-Grave include members from all three of the chapters and are referred to as being a former member of Arrowhead Valley Chapter. That is because we wish to honor all three chapters of "our former members".
We are what they were.
We are grateful to those of you who created their memorials and were willing to transfer them to us when we started our "Remember Our Members" project.

She probably did not know it, but Ann Viginia Nitterhouse was the descendant of Revolutionary Patriot John D. Nitterhouse (born: Daniel Niederhaus). I was able to get him on the DAR list in Feb. 2013. John D. Nitterhouse is buried in Chambersburg, PA where the Nitterhouse family began after John D. settled there by 1790.

great great great granddaughter of John D. Nitterhouse

RE: Charles & Sadie Hadley
You are welcome. I always photograph the entire lot and mark where everyone is in the lot. Let's people know who the neighbors are and has helped find missing relatives.

Charles and Sadie's marker has settled quite a bit. I placed a work order to have it raised (free of charge, it's included in the perpetual care). I will put them on my list to go back in a few weeks and get another photo that shows more of the granite surrounding the marker. Red

Roberts
In the general area, there may be more Robertses. I will take a look next trip and I'll let you know what I find. There are over 300,000 people buried there, so yes, there are way too many to be able to tell who is related.

PS -
I wonder why Edward and Maud chose Inglewood to be buried, which as you know is not at all close to San Bernardino!

Edward Roberts
Wow! Thanks so much for the well-written bio on Mr. Roberts, very impressive. I had wondered if I should submit his memorial to Find a Grave as famous, but as a State Controller I don't know if he would qualify. I found a State Senator's gravestone and tried to have him declared famous, and they wrote back and said since he was only well known locally, he didn't qualify.

Anyway, I have added the info and gave you credit for the bio.

The photo of Maud is lovely; a wonderful addition to her memorial, and I thank you.

Best regards,
B.J.

I'm sorry! I don't use e-mail on this site. I've had too many problems with hacked address books. Once it created situation where I believed one of my Find A Grave friends was stuck at an airport with no money and it turned out to be a scam!

You can share anything you like either using the Edit Tab or leave it on my Profile Page. I'm happy to add anything you like.

Regards,
B.J.

Transfers should only be requested for direct relatives, per the stated guidelines. I would be happy to add any information you have.

Why not set up a Virtual Cemetery for the various DAR chapters/members? It is easy to create one, just look at "Help with Find A Grave."

Regards,
B.J.

Sarah Mary Hamilton possibly Mary Caroline Hamilton
I did not find a stone for Sarah Hamilton but I did find one for Mary Caroline Hamilton next to Mary Kimberly Hamilton. The dates on it are 1851-1855.
