I'm confused by the photos that are posted on the memorial for William Henry Aler, Jr -- there is nothing within the captions for the two photos that ties him to those frigates, so I'm not sure why the photos are posted on his memorial? Could you please either add something to the captions that would clarify the connection to him, and/or have something added as a bio for him that shows the connection, or please remove the photos if they were mistakenly posted.

I would like to thank you for posting information about the above relative of mine. He was my 3rd cousin. I had never seen a photo of him before and was wondering if I could have permission to use it on my ancestry tree?
So sad to think of how scared those young men were when this happened. My father served in the US Army WWII. War was rough from stories he use to tell.
I did notice that there was another memorial on him (#78433772 made later than yours with no information). I did contact them and asked that they check yours out and consider merging them.
Thanks again for all the work you have done.

...greetings.. There seems to be some confusion about the (early Maryland) King family and their connections. Benjamin King, from Scotland, master blacksmith of the WNY was not the same Benjamin King, ship carpenter, employed at the Naval Yard. Benjamin King, b. 1779,Md, d. 1837, Washing, DC, was the ship carpenter, and a relative of Easby.

Could you please tell me your source for Thomas' Middle initial and his place of birth?

Hi, I filled your request for a picture of John Griscom's stone. This stone was totally unreadable, but its location surrounded by other Griscoms gave me assurance this was him. If we find this was not so I will be happy to remove it.

I am trying to locate the graves of members of the USS Chenango through Apr 1864 - the great boiler explosion. I have noticed that some of the Seamen Weir, Wilson, and Fireman Bone were originally buried in the Hospital Burying Ground - but do not show up in roster for Cypress Hills. 1st Ast Engr Cahill was removed to Baltimore, and Actg 2nd Engr Root was first listed for Greenwood, and later Evergreen in NJ - but he appears in CT's burial list. I have located gravesite's 2nd Ast Engr Murray and Actg 3rd Ast Engr White. Sailors Macomby and Mitchell were supposedly taken by family for burial elsewhere.
Have you been able to identify the burial locations of other crew members?
I have set up a virtual cemetery for the crew. We can discuss.
