Family surnames I am currently researching: WININGER/WINEGAR, THORN/THORNE, McINTYRE, SANDERS, BRANSON, CHAPPELL, MACY, PRICE, LANDERS, TUCKER and GREGOROSKI/GREGOSKI/GREGORSKI/GRZEGOZEWSKI. I was born in Jasper County, Missouri and have 2 sons, who still live there. I have relatives scattered here and there.|
I am continuing research on a particular bit of the history of McDonald County, Missouri (sometimes called McDonald Territory) and have a page concerning their well-known attempt to secede from the State of Missouri, in 1961. (See the link given below.) Thank you to the then-Governor Orval Faubus of Arkansas who graciously offered to accept McDonald County into the State of Arkansas. "After all," he said, "it would offset the "bootheel." Oddly enough, to this day, McDonald County, although in Missouri, remains as a part of the Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers Federal Metropolitan Statistical area. To me, the incident provided a fascinating story, which tied in to another interest: philately and cover collecting (local posts).
The Find A Grave site provides a way for me to share a lifelong interest in history, of which tombstones play an inseparable role. I worked in investigations for almost 20 years, so I miss those kinds of challenges. I hope to be of some service as a volunteer, to those involved in genealogical research. While I'm new to this site, I have being doing research along these same lines for some years.
RE-USE OF PHOTOGRAPHS: For now, and subject to revision if such grant is abused, I will grant blanket permission for (you) to use any photograph I have taken, as long as it is for non-commercial use and not for monetary gain, and will be used for your personal documentation only in historical or genealogical research purposes; and will not be re-posted to a subsequent website who as a matter of course, makes claim to legal ownership of photograph(s) uploaded to their site, for their own purposes. Please credit any photos so used as follows: "© Find A Grave contributor # 48190645, used with permission. [SEE: http://findagrave.com]"
Please note that I am not necessarily related to the deceased person of memorials I have entered, and no claim of "ownership" is intended. In some instances, creating an online memorial at this site, just felt like the right thing to do, given the time that has elapsed since their passing. I have no way of knowing if there are living relatives interested in doing the work in maintaining such an online memorial. If you are a relative and would like to have a memorial transferred to you for active maintenance, follow the suggested Find A Grave guidelines and send me a request with the details of your interest and your connection to that person.
I am inclined to sometimes send suggestions, updates or corrections (SAC's) on memorials, so please don't hesitate to send me corrections or additions to any entries I have created. I am a "detail" person and I like the records to be correct and precise. If you are requesting changes in any memorial that I have created, please list numbers for those involved and give the details and sources. Use the "edit" tab at the top of the memorial page in question, to request such changes.

Wes, maybe I'll get the hang of this.....trying to go from subject to message, I hit enter and away it went. Anyway, FYI, I think I solved the missing O'Mohundro memorials. Evidently, the apostrophe in the last name means a great deal to the search engine. I have now found the missing one, but still don't know what happened to the photos, etc. I sponsored the new one and have started working on it.
James C. O'Mohundro memorial 68318252 (the old one)
James C. Omohundro memorial 118278767 (the new one)
They actually had the apostrophe in the name, so I will change that at some point.
Thanks for all your help.

I don't know what's going on with them. I just checked and my email I use for this hasn't changed email@example.com
I will take the memorials as they are my G-G-Grandparents, but don't really have a lot more to add. I would probably sponsor them in order to add another photo or two. I am certain that they used to be there and were a little different and my old links are no longer any good. I've heard that Ancestry.com bought-out findagrave & don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. This is the first of anything like this that I've encountered. I appreciate your time and consideration.

I love to get out and photograph cemeteries...I have thousands of photos. We should get together and go into Adair County...and start snapping some photos.
68678000 forgot to add her memorial number.
Sorry for the late response I am a student! Almost the end of the semester! Yes she is my cousins daughter. She was previously located in Wetumka Oklahoma. I added her obit to the previous page. No pictures though. Maybe her Momma will want it someday and she should be the one to put up her picture. She was a wonderful little girl, died suddenly from meningitis. Her parents miss her and I still pray for them both! Thanks so much!

Thank for your work in Antioch Cemetery. I have not seen it but old cemeteries tend to be neglected.

Sure don't. I was hoping I could find an article about something as I am a mystery buff and follow lots of trails, but nothing yet. I have thought of sending a letter to one of his descendents to see if anyone knows anything. Will let you know if I do find something.
