I've lived in Acushnet, MA. since 1958. |
My parents, maternal grandparents and several aunts and uncles are at Pine Grove Cemetery in New Bedford so I started adding to the entries there to aid others researching their genealogy and got hooked on photographing stones and adding to the data here.
I've also been posting most of the headstone photos I take on Ancestry.com, under the name Trinka5364, into a public tree called Find A Grave research.
This should help users of both sites add them to their trees and at least when copied from the tree, the photo is attributed to me. I find it irritating when I see photos I've posted to memorials here have been added to Ancestry.com under other users names with no acknowledgement. It may be your relative but I'm the one who went to the cemetery and took the picture, and for some difficult stones I may have made a second trip to get a better shot, so please have the courtesy to give credit to the photographer when copying.
Please don't hesitate to ask for a transfer of any relative of yours that I've entered, no matter how distantly related.

Thanks for transferring Susie and Amy to us. I also want to thank you for noticing the DOD for Susie. When we visited the gravestone several years ago, we noticed that Susie and Amy had never been added to the stone so my brother made arrangements to have that done. We had never seen the end result(we all live in Maine now)and didn't know of the mistake until you pointed it out. I plan to add Amy's(Fanny to us) and Charles' story at some point. He was a whaling captain and she was on the ship-iced in at Herschel Island in the Artic- when he died. She kept him on ice all winter, brought him back to San Francisco where he was embalmed, and then brought him by train back to New Bedford for burial. She and Susie(a widow early also) raised my grandfather as his parents died from tuberculosis when he was quite young.

Thank you very much for the family links to Henry Palmer and the additional Mayflower descendancy information. Very interesting!
Your help is very appreciated.

A Happy New Year to you & your family, also!

Thank you so much for adding the photos of the gravestones for my Webb Ancestors in New Bedford. I would like to add information to the pages, i.e., the names of their wives and children, when & why they died, and that sort of thing, if it's OK. How do I go about doing that? It would be helpful for other genealogists who may not have the informaiton. thank you! Toni Ryan (firstname.lastname@example.org)
