|J. Spaulding||Margaret CAGLE|
Judy McGough Spaulding here.
I found a message where you posted seeking tidbits on Margaret CAGLE that you said was a sister to your grandma....is your grandma Roxie CAGLE PATTON or Sarah CAGLE MARTIN?
I too am seeking Margaret CAGLE. Yes. She first married George Elliott McGough (son of Pete and Sarah MaNervia BEARD McGOUGH.
I have the McGough book published 1988 by Carolyn McGough ROWE where it states there is final decree for divorce found at the Jasper courthouse between Margaret and George (Sr.) dated August 1, 1908. George was an Uncle to my father Tommie McGOUGH (son of Benjamin "Harrison", son of Pete).
And I Administrator the Memorial for George (Sr.) at Flatwoods cemetery there in Nauvoo.
I grew up in Flatwoods, graduated from Carbon Hill High, attended college in Calif.
BUT! Some one sent me the date of George's death in Oklahoma as being 1939 ....and now I can't remember WHO(?) sent that date to me....I was talking to one of George's grandsons Raymond O. McGough who lives here in Rosamond, CA and Ray says that date is.....incorrect!!
According to Ray, age 80 son of George(Jr), his grandfather left Nauvoo to settle in Oklahoma ....and took his 3 older kids with him (Sarah, George, and Samuel Odie...on the 1910 census these 3 kids are living with grandparents Pete and MaNervia)....at least George had them for awhile....and he never remarried ....became Sheriff in OKlahoma...and was shot by two brothers over money they owed him.
Margaret it seems often went by "Mary". According to Ray, Margaret/Mary married "Grandpa Shea"---can't remember his given name. Grandpa Shea's son S. D. Shea married Margaret/Mary's daughter Dora McGough and they are buried in Ark.
Funny thing is their son Rev. James changed his name to O'Shea and after leaving the Merchant Marines James settled in Carbon Hill, AL where he is buried.
Ray said "Grandpa Shea" and Mary lived here in California for awhile with Ray.
When I visited Ray last weekend, Ray nor Virginia seemed to remember EXACTLY where their grandmother Margaret is buried...??!! Possibly Tenn or Oceola, Ark??
Ray's father George T. McGough and wife Magdeline SMITH divorced after having 3 kids -- Virginia, Ray, and David. Magdeline left Nauvoo and raised her kids in downtown Los Angeles where she had a cafe specializing in cooked chicken....and she remarried. Ray's father George T. went between Walker County, AL and Arkansas where he remarried abt 1951 to a widow with 3 small children named Idella BURKS ESTES McGOUGH. Stepson Rev. Enoch Estes, Jr. (aka Junior) currently lives Winfield, AL.
Let's share tidbits as we find them, ok?

I am confused. Perhaps you can help regarding this memorial and another Find A Grave Memorial# 31829183 for Jane " Bates Brooks. They appear to be the same person as far as vitals and some photos, but burial locations are different. Appreciate any clarification you can offer.
|Candace Brooks||sorry :(|
I'm so sorry... I didn't read that your husband had passed before I posted the last message. Please accept my condolences. Also, I put the wrong form of "your" in my last message *LOL*... I promise I'm not illiterate... just tired... I work as a karaoke hostess in a bar and just got off shift. I was excited to read that Aunt Jenny was a midwife because I'm studying to be a nurse practitioner :).
|Candace Brooks||Brooks :)|
My name is Candace Brooks. Aunt Jenny Brooks is my 3rd great Grandmother :). Henry Brooks is my 2nd great grand uncle. Henry's Brother, Willis Brooks (1854-1902) is my 2nd great grandfather. Willis' son, Earl Brown Brooks (1886-1962) is my Great Grandfather. My grandfather Robert Edward Brooks died when my dad was a baby... I never got to know much about the Brooks side of the family. Any photos you have of Earl would be amazing. I'm not sure how you're husband is related, but he might know more people than I do :). Thanks!

|Jeniffer Walker Rodgers||Aunt Jenny Brooks Johnson|
I was wondering if you would be willing to transfer Aunt Jenny Brooks Johnson page to me? She is my 6th great grandmother on my dad's side of the family and I would like to include the details that has been shared with me from my great grandmother who was her great great grandmother. I don't have a number to provide you with as there wasn't one on her page.
