Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been doing genealogy work for over 25 years with brief intervals of inactivity when my life took different turns.

I love going to all the old cemeteries in South Georgia marveling at some of the old tombstones, some of which are quite elaborate and expensive even for that period of time, and thinking about how our ancestors lived. Since my husband and I shared so many ancestors (including at least three great-great-great grandfathers), it was an easy task getting information about our "kinfolk".

When my husband of nearly 40 years passed away in 2002 my enthusiasm for genealogy waned somewhat and I did little research for a couple of years; then I found the FindAGrave website and entered a few memorials. I absolutely love entering memorials and posting pictures of tombstones for so many of the South Georgia cemeteries which I have helped "survey" over the years thus enabling so many people access to this information. I especially like being able to link families and consider this one of the most important features of FindAGrave.

I believe when entering genealogy information one should always be open to criticism in order to get information as accurate as possible -- especially when it is posted on the internet for so many thousands of people to view. Though complete accuracy is so hard to achieve I will always strive for accuracy.....should anyone find incorrect information on any of my memorials please do not hesitate to advise. However, please keep in mind that other contributors have possibly given me incorrect information.

Hi Barbara,
Do you have record that shows Mary's date of birth as really 1882? Her headstone says 1880, so was just wondering.

It looks like the photo for her daughter in law and son, Ira, is attached to her memorial.

My records reflect that she married William M. Hughes, 1887 - 1963, and her tombstone states wife of W. M. Hughes. Did she marry two Hughes?

The site states that he was buried at Chancellorville, Ga. or Fredericksburg, Va. Have you found out where he was actually killed and buried? Thanks.

Find A Grave doesn't have a listing for an Old Union Cemetery in Lanier County. Can you do some further research and let me know? THANKS!

Please disregard previous question. I think I have found the correct cemetery. I will call tomorrow to confirm. Mr. Jack was a very dear friend and I want his memorial (and all memorials) to be as accurate as possible. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for all you do to make Find A Grave a great place for us all.

Where is New Smyrna United Methodist Church Cemetery in Uvalda? There is not one listed on Find A Grave except in Peach and Cobb Counties. Could this cemetery be known by another name?
