We're a transplant here in Goldsboro, Wayne County, North Carolina. Russ was born in Indiana, Indiana County, Pennsylvania; raised in Richfield, Summit County, Ohio; retired from USAF (Seymour Johnson AFB) in 1995 and stayed here. Have been working on my family history since 1995 - the homepage shows the brick walls in my research. Resa was born in Flora, Clay County, Illinois; raised in Flora and Sanford, Volusia County, Florida. We met in Montgomery, Montgomery County, Alabama, when I was stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base, in 1982; married in 1983. Spent 6 years stationed at Geilenkirchen NATO Air Base, Germany. Transferred to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. When asked why we grave hop - It's something we can do together; costs very little; and we get to know a bit of Wayne County history!
I saw that Celia Gardner was listed on the grave marker as being a Taylor. I am working on a Pate family lineage and other researchers have said that Celia was a Pate, the daughter of Shadrack Pate of Wayne County. Can you tell me the source of Celia's Taylor family information? I don't want to claim Josiah as her husband if it was a totally different Celia.
Duplin Co. Good Morning J R, For heaven sakes don't make a trip up to Duplin Co. just for Troy's birth record. However, if you are in the area for some other reason, then it would be nice to have a copy of the actual birth record. This is especially true because you can't always rely on the accuracy of inscriptions on a tombstone.
Troy, Mary, Joseph & Victoria J R, What can I say. I am speechless regarding the work you have done for me on the above 4, but especially for Troy. Surely this is way and beyond the call of duty! No wonder you needed a 6 month break starting in 2014.
I have made the appropriate corrections, and added new documentation. It was extraordinarily helpful to have the links to the various sources. Also nice was the map of Willow Grove showing the grave site.
In closing I must mention the wonderful tombstone photos you attached to the above 4 memorials. They are first rate. Please be assured that I am MOST appreciative of your work.
