~~ Life is lived forward, but understood backward ~~
My goal is to help others with their research. I find it extremely rewarding. Thank you Find a grave for having such a great site and all the volunteers willing to spend countless hours doing what I do.
I look to find small, backyard cemeteries and photograph all the stones, and research the family to provide links, before nature and time destroy what can be read. I have completely finished photographing all the stones in many cemeteries in the area of East Freetown and Dartmouth. I prefer to go into those cemeteries that are hard to access or are overgrown. I have been able to do some of those with a lot of help from Find a grave friend Chip 5610 who set up many of the cemeteries I am photographing, and with some assistance from Freetown Cemetery Commission, Mike and Keven, helping locate them in Freetown and Assonet and J. King for taking a great deal of time to help locate them in Dartmouth. Thank you so much.
Once I have them posted on Find a grave it is rewarding for me to research and link their families. Getting the veterans stones are most important, we are losing the ability to read them very quickly. With the help of Jim Grasela we completed the Veterans Section in the Pine Grove Cemetery in New Bedford and have them all on line. Much appreciation to J. Bosworth who has helped to figure out, research and link many families in the South Dartmouth (Padanaram) Cemetery, where I spent many weeks photographing the remaining memorials, and several other cemeteries where we worked as a team. She is always willing to take on a challenge. I can't thank them enough for their time.

~*~...ღ...~*~...ღ...~*~..ღ.. The Dash ..ღ..~*~...ღ...~*~...ღ...~*~
I read of a reverend who stood to speak at the funeral of his friend. He referred to the dates on her tombstone from the beginning...to the end.
He noted that first came the date of her birth and spoke of the following date with tears, but he said what mattered most of all was the dash between those years.
For that dash represents all the time that she spent alive on earth, and now only those who loved her know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not, how much we own - the cars, the house, the cash. What matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash.
So think about this long and hard, are there things you'd like to change? For you never know how much time is left. (You could be at "dash mid-range").
If we could just slow down enough to consider what's true and real, and always try to understand the way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger, and show appreciation more and love the people in our lives like we've never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect, and more often wear a smile, remembering that this special dash might only last a little while.
So, when your eulogy's being read with your life's actions to rehash...would you be proud of the things they say about how you spent your dash? ..... by Linda Ellis
.... ღ While researching our family I used the find a grave site and found it to be a valuable tool. I feel that LINKING the family on that site to be important in finding other members of the family. We felt the need to help others in their search for family.
Putting a photo, a document, a bit of history of the person and the grave stone on the memorial is a complete picture for us to enjoy. Thank you for everyone who helps to complete this task. Your work is an enormous gift.
If you have a photo request for a large cemetery, it is always best to give the volunteer a plot number and or location in the cemetery. I will do what I can, it is a great hobby. Please be kind to those who are willing to volunteer to help. The words "Please and thank you" are always welcomed.
Edits, suggestions and corrections are always welcomed and done ASAP, through the edit tab on the memorial.
I walk the cemeteries to photo when I can. I add what I find for all the memorials I have set up, hoping this will help others find their family.
I have been a genealogy buff for over 40 years. After learning my maternal parents and great grandparents came here to make a better life, I actively researched to find all the connections. My husband and I were fortunate enough to visit their homeland in St. Cecile/Fontenoille Belgium in 2012 where we met more family.
One of the most important things in our life is to give our children roots to grow and wings to fly.
Our genealogy families include:
Bailey ~ Burt ~ Church ~ Jenkins ~ Strange ~ Warren ~ Weber
and, Champluvier ~ Charron ~ LaFountain/Fountain ~ Ledoux/Sweet ~ Protin ~ Shover/Chauvin ~ Tetreault/Tatro and variations of.
I have interest in several surnames: Ashley, Chace/Chase, Clark, Crapo, Cummings, Demoranville, Gifford, King, Rounseville, Spooner, Teachman, Westgate among others.

|Frank Allen III||duplicate and request|
I believe your memorial for Harriet B. Nickerson #113857193 is a duplicate for Harriet Byum Taber Pierce # 113889862 although her stone does say Pierce, her death record states her name as “Harriet B (Taber) Nickerson” She had a second marriage to Malachi Nickerson #113857260 in 1847. Apparently when he died in 1866 he was buried with his first wife, and Harriet was buried with her first husband Elisha Pierce, and her name from that marriage was used for the headstone. Thank you for all your work. Harriet is my GG Grandmother. Would you consider transferring her to me Frank Allen III (#47758405)
I am not related to her in any way so am transferring back to you. Thanks for all you do on Find A Grave.
