FYI: See ALL PHOTOS for West Lawn Cemetery (Canton, OH) to view a map of the cemetery.|
Anyone is welcome to use photos I've taken for their own personal, non-profit use. This includes uploading to your family tree on sites such as Ancestry, MyHeritage, etc. We are here to share after all. :) Well, I am anyway. If I've helped you in any way to find more information about your ancestors, then I'm happy to be of service. To those whose photos I unknowingly "stole" (see the forums for more info on this), I do apologize. If you find I've used a photo and would like credit posted or a photo removed, please tell me which photo and your info.
I have family in friends in Jefferson and Monroe Counties, so you'll see me fulfilling requests quite a distance from home. :) The cemeteries there are so much older than here in Canton, and I love taking my friends and family on field trips with me. They usually don't know they live so close to "pioneer" cemeteries. It's very rewarding for me; I love helping others find their relatives' final resting places.
If a photo I've taken of a headstone hasn't been "cleaned" or "wiped off", it's because I've read that brushing things like dry grass and pine needles will scratch the headstone.
Learning as I go: I DO NOT add or link to "unknown burials". I didn't even consider this to be an option until cruising through the forums. If there are siblings that are obvious, but no obvious parents (ex: SON or DAUGHTER on a shared marker), then the siblings will not be linked. There is a link in the left-hand menu bar to show all of (SURNAME) you are viewing in that particular cemetery. Click that and you'll find the sibling. If I see a connection, I usually make a note in the photo caption or note section "Buried next to (NAME/NAMES)". Again, I am happy to transfer memorials to relatives.
To anyone reading:
I am having trouble finding information on the wife of George Gales, Jr (b. 1844 d. 1912 in Pennsylvania). From what I've found so far, George Jr was first married to Charlotte Yates (May 15, 1865 in Maryland), and they had one son: George W Gales III (b. 1865, Maryland) who married Ada/Addie Whitehair. Do you have any knowledge of Charlotte Yates? She was supposedly born in England.
George Jr then married Mary Bickerton in 1869. There is a ton of information on Mary's children, but I can't find anything else for Charlotte.
Thank you so much,

Thank you so much for all the Grisell photos. I was only able to be in the area once, and couldn't find the cemetery. You are very kind to do them, and they are great photos. Thanks again!
