Beatitudes of a Family Genealogist
Blessed are the great-grandmothers, who hoarded newspaper clippings and old letters, For they tell the story of their time.
Blessed are all grandfathers who filed every legal document, For this provides proof.
Blessed are grandmothers who preserved family Bibles and diaries, For this is our heritage.
Blessed are fathers who elect officials that answer letters of inquiry, For--some--they are the only link to the past.
Blessed are mothers who relate family traditions and legends to the family, For one of her children will surely remember.
Blessed are the relatives who fill in family sheets with extra data, For them we owe the family history.
Blessed is any family whose members strive for the preservation of records, For theirs is a labour of love.
Blessed are the children who will never say, "Grandma, you have told that old story twice today."

I have a hope beyond the grave – that someone on earth might remember me.

Our applicant got her approval on her new Patriot Lazarus Dodson. The Genie's did not change very much, infact they did not use all the census and sources I sent in. I do have a tendancy to overkill an application if possible so as not to miss something that might get it approved.
You can check it at www.dar.org.

Thank you for the kind words in your message.
Could you please help me remember which cemetery it was in?
I could not find it in my search, so I need your help.
|Juliaom||APPROVED, Lazarus Dodson|
Thanks for checking in, its been busy. LAZARUS DODSON, is now an approved DAR Patriot. He was approved after I sent it in with the Have Written letter. They take their time getting the new papers on line, but he should be in the DAR Patriot section.
Actually I have not printed out the approved paper from our members only website as I was scared to see the changes they made. As long as he is approved and she has her DAR National Number we are thrilled.
If you need any info let me know.

|Carline Cole||RE: Marguery/Majer Bounds VanBebber|
You stated in Peter VanBebber's memorial that you had located an obituary for Marguery Bounds VanBebber aka Majer Bounds.
She is in my husband's lineage by way of the Bounds family. I would like to have a copy of the obituary if possible. If you can email it to me, that would be great. It is listed below. If it is necessary to mail it, I would be willing to pay for the copy and postage. Just let me know by email and where to send the money.

I am going thru memorials on the Boulder Cemetery site (preparing for 2nd trip in June) and of course found Ben Wahle's memorial. So now I know more about him, such a great bio and certainly a life well lived---I think that's a Montana trademark!
I also found the memorials for your parents, really nicely done. The photo of your mother as a little girl sitting in the chair---she reminds me a lot of my mother at about the same age in a couple of photos I have. I will bring them to show you!
Also appears you have helped many people with photos and info. I'm not surprised!

|Suzanne Andrews||John W. Phelan 1920-1949|
I'm not sure, but I think the John Phelan you posted may be one that I have posted as well. I had a request from a man in Belgium for a picture of John W. Phelan who died in the 1944 in the war. The cemetery office gave me the grave location and the dates. His headstone said that he was born in 1919 and died in Italy in 1944. However, he wasn't buried until 1949 (according to cemetery records). He is buried in the same lot as William E. Phelan and Vivia A Phelan. You indicate that your John W. Phelan's father was William E. Phelan and I believe mine was too. So, I think that there is only one John W. Phelan and since you don't have a picture a headstone on the memorial I can't know for sure. However, there is only one John Phelan in Mount Moriah's cemetery records. My experience has been that if a soldier dies overseas, it is quite some time before they actually get his body home for burial. That would explain the burial date. I'm not sure where you got your information, but you have your guy's death year as 1949.
I would appreciate hearing from you and knowing what your thoughts are about Mr. Phelan. Thanks in advance.
are you related to bowmans my grandpa is a bowman related to jacob.we are starting a family tree let me know if you are related have pictures of lot of head stones in cass county illinois
I am getting ready to submit the DAR app for Lazarus Dodson. Wish me luck. With the few records for Claiborne Co, TN I just hope it flys.
