I am trying to find members of this family who would enjoy having the work of Jerry and Anita Grubbs. I don't remember how I came to be in possession of this collection of notes, genealogies, and Family Record Book. I probably found it in a thrift store and couldn't stand having it get thrown out eventually, so I bought it to pass on. I've done this with family bibles also.

So if any of you want this collection, please e-mail me and you can have it all for the cost of reimbursement of postage to you. I would guess it would be under $10.

RE: Vincent McCrory
Hi Derek, I really wasn't checking for specific information on Vincent McCrory or his wife so have a limited amount entered in our files for them.

Fairvew Cemetery 8-8-10 ("William H. son of V. H. & L. McCrory Aug. 15, 1903 Sept. 5, 1903").

familysearch Census 1900 Washington Twp., Rush Co., IN (Vincent McCrory 32 May 1868 IN md 1896 parents IN, Lulu McCrory wife 24 July 1876 IN 0 living children parents IN).

familysearch Census 1910 Union, Rush, IN (Vincent McCrory 41 IN, Lula McCrory 32 IN, daughter Lena McCrory 9 IN, Lena Smith 60 mother-in-law 1850 IN parents IN).

familysearch IN, Marriages, 1811-1959 lists her parents as Louis Smith and Lena Pickering Smith.

Slevin, Rush Co., IN Marriage Record 1882-1901 Bks 12, 13, 14 p. 40 had (McCrory, Vincent Lulie Smith 1-15-1896).

This may be information you already have; sorry, I don't know where Vincent spent his final years. It was nice to hear from you again though! mrs

Sue Butler Arthur
Hi Derek,

I saw you wrote a note about your Aunt Sue Butler Arthur. Maybe you can help me with a family mystery. Was Sue married to William Arthur the firefighter who died in 1937 and is buried at Holy Cross? If so he had a sister Francis Arthur DeVine. Did Sue ever talk about Francis and her husband William Augusta Devine. I'm trying to track down these Devines. I know they were married, living in Indianapolis. I don't think they ever had kids and I think they stayed in Indianapolis but I don't know that for sure. If you have any info on this subject it would really help me.

RE: Robert McCrory and Salina Saxon McCrory
Hi Derek, Thanks for your line of descent information; it differs slightly from what we have recorded in our files. Our information to date has Samuel McCrory (1840-1880) marrying first Elizabeth Clark then her sister Mary F. Clark; the daughter of Samuel and Mary was Hettie who married John Grubbs with a son Wilbur. Then our info ended with Wilbur marrying Ruby Ferguson. In our files we have the paternal grandfather of Hettie McCrory Grubbs as William McCrory, brother to Robert McCrory. Both William and Robert named sons Samuel and that is where our information connected with the lines of descent differs from yours; we have that Samuel McCrory (@1838-1892), a son of Robert and Celina, married Martha J. Zeek Oct. 8,1868. It took awhile to sort out the Samuels but the following census information is what seemed to point to Samuel born @1838 who married Martha Zeek as a son of Robert ("f IR") and Celina ("m GA"). [Marion, Decatur, IN 1880 Census Samuel McCrory M 43 1837 IN f IR m GA farmer, Martha J. McCrory 32 1848 IN parents b VA md keeping house, John M. McCrory M 11 1869 IN, Mary McCrory F 8 1872 IN, Celina McCrory F 6 1874 IN, Emma McCrory F 3 1877 IN, Catherine McCrory F 2 1878 IN, R. Morton McCrory M 4M 1880 IN.] Would be happy to share sources/what we have by personal e-mail if you are also interested in sharing; it would be nice to get this sorted out! mrs

RE: Union Cemetery
The caretaker told me for most of the cemetery the records only show who purchased the plots. So in most cases you don't know who is buried there. They have since changed and record who the grave is for as well as who purchased it. However, it mostly shows parents or grandparents buying multiple plots for the family without knowing if it was actually family, an in-law, or just who ended up using it.

RE: John Axby Grubbs
No, he isn't a McCrory. The paternal grandfather of Hettie McCrory Grubbs, William McCrory, had a sister named Margaret McCrory who married Alexander Gillespie Saxon. My husband descends from that line. William and Margaret had a brother, Robert McCrory, who married Salina Saxon, the sister of Alexander Gillespie Saxon. This is such a great hobby! mrs

John Axby Grubbs
Hi Derek, My husband is a second cousin twice removed to Hester "Hettie" McCrory Grubbs; he is a third cousin once removed to John's and Hettie's daughter Marie Grubbs. Thanks for providing a name for that middle initial! mrs
