Bio and Links
Bio Photo I grew up on Lions Den Road just south of Syracuse, NY. I attended and graduated from Onondaga Central School, class of 1965. I continued my education at Potsdam State University College, graduating in 1969 and entering the teaching profession. I taught grades 3-6 for 31 years before retiring in 2000.
My time is now taken up with baby sitting my grandkids, doing family genealogy, cataloging my mother's photo albums on my computer, and digital photography which includes photographing butterflies at our local zoo's butterfly house (Watertown, NY). I also guide visitors through the butterfly house when I'm there so they don't miss seeing the eggs, caterpillars, chrysalids, and butterflies identified for them. I share the interesting facts I've learned from field guides about the various butterflies. It's fun to hear the folks discussing something they learned as they leave.
As an update (Nov 2010), I've been volunteering as an animal keeper aid (shoveling manure, etc., LOL!!). Have made some dear friends with the animal keepers and other staff, and have been photographing the other critters of the zoo from much better vantage points. Have gotten some incredible pics!
This site has been a real treasure find. It's allowed me to share much family info with relatives far and near that might not otherwise have access.

Deb Bernard
Elisha Hall, Sandy Hollow Cemetery
Is it possible that Elisha B. Hall is a son of Alexander and Jane Hall.. In my family history. I have them with a son Elisha B. with same dates?? I may have just inadvertently connected him to them.. Debbie Bernard

Griffin children in Pine Grove Cemetery, Westville, NY
Hi, I am uploading photos I took at this cemetery and noticed your name as the owner of some of the Griffin family buried there. One of the stones, a flat marker, has 4 childrens' names on it: Henry, Eugene, Alvey, and Mary Ann; all died within a year or two of their birth. This stone is behind James J. Griffin's stone and his wife Olive M. However, 2 of them show up on Find A Grave as children of James & Olive and the 2 boys are listed as children of George W. Griffin. Is this a mistake or were the 4 children from 2 different Griffin families? And buried together? Didn't know if this is a mistake or needed correcting? I just added the pictures...take care, Laurie

searching for grandmother and great grandfather
Herb, I am searching for the grave of my Grandmother, Mildred Mitchell. I found an obituary online, from the Watertown Daily Times, 28 May 1940, stating my grandmother passed away and would be buried in the Dexter cemetery. She was the wife of Harold C. Mitchell and daughter of John and Rosanna Tripp Dunn.

I am also in search of the grave of my great grandparents, John and Rosanna Dunn. I did find online stating John was buried at the Dexter Cemetery.

If you could search for those grave stones for me and photograph them I would be forever grateful.

Sincerely, Jean Vanasek
