I have been doing my family's history on my Grandfather's side of the family. His name was Ewett Woodson Phillips. His father was Moses Phillips who was the son of Joel Woodson Phillips who was one of the few hundred who survived the sinking of the ship Sultana. More people actually died on this ship than the Titanic disaster. She sank on the Mississippi River right after the end of the Civil War. She was carrying Civil War Soldier Prisoners when she sank. There are numerous books written about the Sinking of the Sultana. In the photo, I am at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, Ky. where I located William Hardy Phillips who was my Grandfather's Great Uncle.
