We work as a team: Russian-Danish family living in London. Having just completed a few years in the Middle East, we are moving to our next adventure in China. County-keepers for England. Being foreigners in the countries we live in, we are very interested in all Russians and Danes who found their last resting place away from their home countries. We will be grateful for any comments, advice and links to memorials. Thanks to this wonderful website we have found many friends all over the world and the amount of mails we receive increase all the time. We appreciate all the mails and ALWAYS reply but sometimes it takes longer than we would like to.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!We prefer to get your questions and corrections through e-mail (use the EDIT tab in the memorial). Please include your own e-mail in case we need to write back to you.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!juliakeld @ gmail.com|

hi julia i am a descendant of tt cooke , i visited the memorial last week and met with signe from the friends of kensall green to disscuss restoration possibilities. here is her e mail to me. i am contacting everyone i can to discuss getting a just giving site to raise the funds.please let me know your comments yours donna marshall. e email@example.com.
Dear Ms. Marshall,
> I would be delighted to meet you at Kensal Green Cemetery on Tuesday, August 19, to visit the Grade II Listed Cooke memorial. I was looking at it only yesterday, with our officer from English Heritage, wondering what we should do about it, and whether the extended family might contribute to its restoration. I appreciate that you have kindly offered to assist with that, so your advice would be much appreciated.
> We're also in correspondence with a Bob Cooke, who now lives in the north of England; he sent this astonishing image of the monument from The Tatler of 1903. You may also know the photo taken c.1967, also attached below. To complete the set, this close-up of the sculpture was taken for a condition survey of all the then-Listed monuments conducted by the Friends of Kensal Green Cemetery on behalf of English Heritage in 2012.
> In the wake of that survey, the monument is now on the Heritage At Risk Register, with a high priority; this is no honour, as it means that it is extremely vulnerable and in urgent need of attention. The principal question is whether to attempt a full restoration, replacing broken and lost elements, or simply to stabilise what remains, and perhaps erect a new plaque with a drawing or relief of the original monument to record its history. EH subsequently commissioned professional condition reports on all the monuments At Risk, from David Odgers; his report is also here attached. As you will see, he only addressed immediate remedial repairs; we would seek quotes from specialist monumental sculptors were we to opt for a full restoration.
> These, at least, are the issues. I'm free all day on Tuesday, so we could meet at either cemetery gate: the Top Gate, on the western side of the site, is nearest Kensal Green station (the usual option if you're coming by tube or London Overground), while the Main Gate on the eastern side is adjacent to several bus routes. En route from the Top Gate, we could also look at the recent restoration of the Blondin memorial, which included some new sculptural elements, as an example of what can be done.
> My contact details should appear beneath the attachments; my mobile number is 07740 476470.
> Best wishes,

|Dawsons Brewery Leeds||RE: Sgt Hylton Carlyle George|
Kia Ora from Wellington, New Zealand
Sgt Hylton Carlyle George's birth date is calculated on an age count back from death. This death date and information was accessed from Cenotaph - Auckland data base for war records for New Zealand Military Personnel who died during the conflicts New Zealand was in. His year of birth may also be found searching New Zealand Births, deaths and marriages - Historical records.
I am currently in the process of researching all military personnel who attended Scots College, Wellington who died in the 2nd World War. I have yet to visit base records in Trentham, Upper Hutt, Wellington (near where I live) to get his full date/month/year of birth.
Hylton Carlyle George was the son of Sinclair Munro George and of Edith George (nee Butterfield), of Alfredton, Wellington, New Zealand.

Hi - Thanks for your quick response to my edit request. It was so interesting to read more about his work and his life's accomplishments! We are not to far from his birthplace in Wisconsin! My daughter will be studying in London during the upcoming fall semester and it's on her list to visit the museum! Many thanks again!
|Annie Gegan||RE: Abecasis|
For extended family members in the 19th century, I have a series of books that include obituaries for the Sephardic Jewish community of Victorian England. It also includes many individuals who lived in the USA, since the families were all interconnected.
|Annie Gegan||RE: Abecasis|
The birth year of Abraham Rodrigues Brandon Abecasis (called "Brandon") is from American records, as he was born in New York in 1857. He died in Willesden, Middlesex, England.
|Annie Gegan||RE: Abecasis|
The birth years are largely from English census records (1841 - 1891), although these are my ancestors, and so, family birth order, the dates of parents marrying, is also known. Since the Rodrigues Brandon sisters - Esther, Julia, and Lavinia - were born in Barbados, the records of the actual birth dates are difficult to find (though I continue looking). I know the actual dates for their brother Joseph Rodrigues Brandon, due to his immigration to the USA (death records, census records, obituaries). One fact on the girls' births is that the first wife of their father Abraham Rodrigues Brandon, Sarah Esther Lopez, died in March 1823 in New York City while visiting her son Isaac Lopez Brandon. Now, it is possible that Abraham had gotten the second wife with child before the death of the first, but I doubt it, because second wife - Sarah Simpson Wood - was the daughter of a fellow Barbados planter, and quite respectable (as far as we can tell). This would mean that the girls were most likely born between 1823 and 1827 - Joseph was born in January 1828.
