After discovering Find A Grave, I've become hooked. It's so true: "you can't do just one."|
If you have any corrections, links or additions, let me know through the "edit" tab which is on the top right of the memorial page. I try to be perfect, but so far....:o(
Please feel free to use any of my cemetery or headstone photos for whatever purpose.
TRANSFERRING Management: To be fair to all, I follow Find-A-Grave's guidelines.
"Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren."
Just use the "edit" tab and let me know how you are related and your FAG contributor number.
RESEARCHING: I am looking for parents and/or siblings of Austin Goodwin Broton [aka Broughton, Brotton, Button] (1856-1946). He's my great grandfather and a bit of a mystery. His mother was a Goodwin, born in Scotland and died in New York about 1870...we think.
Most importantly...have fun!

I would be happy to add the change request. Are you a relative? Would you like to have management control and make the changes as well as any in future?
|Bobs your Uncle||Gen Alfred Redington|
Thank you for letting me know of the duplicate. I don't like to see duplicates or inaccurate information. But I'm at odds as to what to do about it. Alfred Redington is buried at the Masonic Cemetery, not the City.
I volunteer for the City Cemetery. The cemetery used to own the other property, about 50 acres in all. They sold land to the Odd Fellows and Masonic. Originally all burials were all located in the same cemetery, but no longer. I have ran into this issue a few times and asked the ladies I volunteer with about it. Most of them agree to leave the duplicate because anyone searching in old records will see the City Cemetery listed as a burial place, when they are actually now in the Masonic or Odd Fellows.
And just to add to the confusion, the Masonic and Odd Fellows have a section within the property of the City Cemetery. Apparently they're were several small cemeteries there, including a fireman's section which the fire department still maintain. The Masonic and Odd Fellows needed more land, so the City sold them the back part of the property. In addition, there was an old cemetery called "New Helvetia" that was entirely moved to the City property. This was done after it got flooded out. There are also a number of people that were moved into larger family plots, or removed to other cemeteries, sometimes even in other countries back to their homeland (mostly people that came out here for the gold rush). So people buried in the City Cemetery are sometimes are listed in multiple cemeteries.
So I would be happy to removed my memorial, but the location is accurate. However the duplicate memorial was where he was buried originally, and that's what will show in the old records. It's a mess. It really is. In one large section there was a mass burial for the cholera victims. There was a small ravine they buried them in then filled in. Later it was then used as a burial location for the poor. Then more dirt was brought in and it was used as a veteran section for WWII. So there are 3 layers of burials, and only the top veteran's section is known. The other two we have no idea just how many are buried there and who they are because early records were lost.
But thanks for letting me know. I will notify the manager of the other memorial about the issue and see what they want to do. But I don't mind deleting mine ;)

Transferred the Norris memorials to you. I always want family to be able to manage the memorials I set up here - so they are yours. If you need anything else in the Tempe, AZ area, let me know.

Sorry for the duplication. It has been resolved. Thanks for the info. Pam

I made the updates to the Norris memorials per your request. I also approved all your edit requests too. Because you are related, would you like these two memorials transferred to you. I am not related.
I would be happy to transfer.

Hey, Phyllis .... after seeing your note, my Giants baseball cap doesn't fit me anymore!! Thx for the nice words.
And, yes, my wife is still very lovely. She's a Noo Yawker that I met in NYC at my first real job after college. Still my best friend.
The requestor for Jeremiah's photo was "John Cummings" .... there are two shown; he's the one with the 2008 date.
Good to hear from you. The Anne Simpson was actually Mary Anne. It took me a while to figure out why I hadn't made a memorial for "Anne", so I put a note on Doris' memorial page. Thanks for checking.
