PLEASE NOTE: Please Be Patient Concerning Edits 10-9-15 The other day I processed 92 edits unverified assuming I could start from there and keep up with them, four days later the number had risen to 101. Yesterday was 125 total, I have knocked that down to 108. Find A Grave told me to verify the information submitted in edits before accepting so here is how I handle edits.
I place a piece of paper across my screen open the edits and take the name only and edit the memorial with the information I have, after I add all that I have I go back and check and see if I missed anything or if my information differs from yours and if it does then I recheck that.
If the edit tab says "no change", I process as "No change the memorial is up to date with submitted edit", if it will remove the slightest bit of correct information I will decline with "This edit will remove accurate data", other wise I use what ever reason is appropriate.
Keep in mind that I am working on my memorials daily, I will take time out though to process some edit each day.
I AM ACTIVELY WORKING ON THE MEMORIALS I HAVE ADDED... I have lots of obituaries, photos and other information that I am adding as time permits. I enjoy doing my own research and photographing. I am adding photos to all my memorials in Glacier Memorial Gardens and several other local cemeteries.
Unfortunately trouble with my computer drive, transportation and family obligations over the last year slowed me down. I was just beginning to make noticeable progress in Glacier when a contributor couple returned to the area and started working there again. Oh well they have every right to but I will continue working as I have planned. I am not a fan of snapping and slapping photos onto memorials, but I may just do that for now and then continue to clean them up later. I like to take the time to get the best photo I can and if I am not satisfied I add it to my retake list.
Please note that in Glacier Memorial Gardens only, the names were added from burial records, the only date given was burial so until I work through the list you may find this is an issue. If you are looking for someone with the same name but the year is different or there are no dates listed, please check with me before creating a new memorial. Burial can sometimes take place years after a death. Cemetery records may contain spelling errors so please keep that in mind when searching for a name.
IF YOU ARE FAMILY and would like to see more information added to a memorial before I get to it just let me know and I will make it a priority.
Explanation - You may have noticed that a lot of my memorials in Glacier Memorial Gardens indicate there is a photo but when you click on them there is no photo there. I thought I would explain why this is happening.
Some contributors ignore the rules and post photos to the photo section that should not be posted there such as copyrighted obituary photograph's of the person, scanned obituaries, info added as a photo, draft notices, tombstone applications etc. When this happens Find A Grave converts the photo into a flower and posts it in the flower section with the original posting date and name but the icon indicating that there was a photo still remains.
On my memorials one contributor lifted my photo of the cemetery sign then cropped it and added it back to hundreds of my memorials as their own photo. Since they did not hold the copyright to the photo that they posted, Find A Grave could not convert the photo to a flower so they posted a default flower instead with the original posting date and name. This contributor and their spouse also added a lot of other types of photos that were removed.
Any photos added to the memorials that I have created that are against the Find A Grave rules will be submitted for removal.,
I will be adding Plot information to all my memorials in the Libby Cemetery, Glacier Memorial Gardens and Tobacco Valley Cemetery so please do not bother sending me this information, I already have it.
Transfers are honored according to Find A Grave guidelines only Find-A-Grave guidelines for transfer requests are for direct relatives which would include your spouse, children, parents, siblings, grandparents, and great-grandparents. IF YOU ARE A DIRECT RELATIVE please be specific about your relationship when requesting a transfer.
