Please always attach a memorial# ,When inquiring or trying to edit, so I will know which memorial you are referring to.|
I HAVE ASKED EVER SO KINDLY, FOR YOU NOT TO PUT PICTURES OF THE MISSOURI DEATH CERTIFICATES ON MY MEMORIALS, IF YOU WANT TO POST THEM TO EVERY ONE OF YOUR OWN MEMORIALS BE MY GUEST,
PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE!!!
WHAT'S IN A NAME?
many different spellings, that's what's in a name!!!
It's enough to make you go HUH?
My main focus has been on Benton County Missouri, because my father's people settled there in 1859, and married into many different families; Carleton, Cook, Delozier, Boring, McMillin, VanHoozer, Chastain, Crouch, Mayhugh etc. They also brought a few different families with them in a wagon train, including; Sellers, Parker, Cate etc. Sometimes I take a few liberties with the OLD burials as to exact date of death, and Cemetery. I KNOW they are in buried Benton County, many of my ancestors were poor farmers, maybe never had a stone, and probably a few of them are at the bottom of the lake, because lets face it, before running water, you needed to live near water. Most of the small Cemeteries near water were "moved" by the Corps of Engineers.
Moved is a loose term, a cousin and friend who we will call Mr Chastain told me in 2009 when he was younger, and still living in Benton Co MO. He watched the Carleton Family Cemetery being "moved" They used a large flat bed truck and a couple guys with shovels, they would lift the headstone onto the back of the truck, and scoop one shovel full of dirt and throw it on the stone, then onto the next. NO bodies were ever moved...I am pretty sure this true for a lot of small family Cemeteries...
Back in the day, headstones were a luxury that few could afford, many field stones were used, but that burial would be lost within a few generations, as people moved away etc.
So if I have added an OLD burial that I cannot PROVE to you, so sorry...
You may use any pictures/photos I have posted, thats what this site is all about SHARING information, and finding our loved ones final resting place.
FOR ME FINDAGRAVE IS NOT ABOUT NUMBERS
It's about putting info out there to help people connect
I will not delete my memorials for a memorial with an unknown burial, even if you move your older memorial, once you find the correct cemetery where my newer one is posted. I see it this way, I took the time & effort to find their burial place, and put them where they belonged in the first place...
Quality, not quantity...
I try to create memorials that will help family members find there loved ones final resting place, with as much info as I can find.
additions and or corrections always welcome
**I do not respond to negativity**
