Anna Pate & John Pate, Sr., Wayne Co., MS.
Thank you Gwen! I do plan to start at the Wayne Co., Library in Waynesboro. I also, have a paper showing where Anna bought some land in Wayne County, MS. So, I will check land records at the courthouse. Anna (Ann, Annie)Pate should be buried with her son Willis Pate. I am not sure about John Pate, Sr. but, they married in Wayne County. In 1880 her P.O. Box was Waynesboro, MS.

I believe that John Pate, Jr. died in 1861 during the early stages of the CSA War. He is probably buried in Florida. His personal items were sent home to his mother. Maybe, Washington County, Florida.

The family of Nancy Pate West, Wayne County, MS.
I have been doing a lot of research on this family. Thanks to you I have learned a great deal about them. -- Do you have any information on John Pate, Sr. and Anna Coward Pate's burial place? I can not find anything! I know that John died before 1845 and Anna died after 1880-1885. I believe that Anna died in Wayne County MS. -- I am planning a trip to Waynesboro, MS. to do some research and visit the cemeteries in that area. I am trying to get things together before I make this trip. -- Drew Pate and Elizabeth Jane Parker are my GG-Grandparents. DNA Testing from our Pate line shows that our name changed during the mid to late 1700's from McCain to Pate. I have some information on this but nothing much to work with yet. -- Any help or information would be appreciated. Thanks, Virginia Wilson Bailey, Louisiana

George Otis Fail
Dear Gwen: Just wanted to drop a line regarding George Otis Fail memorial 107174634 in Waynesboro City Cemetery, Wayne Co., Ms.
George Otis Fail's dod is in question. First, there is no photo of his marker to confirm or dispute dates. His dob is supported by WWI Draft Registration Records. However, Otis had a brother, in particular, (i.e.) Leroy Watkins Fail who died in 1937 in Jefferson Co., Tx. (see memorial 76866647) Leroy's obit posted there states that Otis survived him and was living in Chicora at the time (1937). To add fuel to this fire...if you note that Otis is a Mason and was married to Ella Fail, it isnt likely the dod is correct as it would make the couple only 16 years old at the time of his death. ( I believe this is most likely a typo error made in the Strickland/Edwards Records of Wayne Co. cemetery book B. It is also odd, but not unheard of that he died on his birthday...just saying...It is likely he actually died in 1940 and the numbers were inverted, but I cannot know that for sure without photos of the headstone. I thought you might want to make a note on his memorial stating that the dod is in question. Thanks, Gwen! Hope you are doing well. sincerely, Cindy (aka hollidaywoman)
