Bio and Links
Bio Photo Due to email problems I have having difficulty making corrections at this time. I have been blocked out of my own account. This has been going on for over two months. Please forgive if I have not attended to your request. I'll catch us as soon as I figure out what has happened.

Friends, you are invited to visit the memorial page for our son
Nathan Peurifoy He died unexpectedly in October 2014 at age 26 from a diabetic coma.
I am taking a leave of absence from Find a grave for awhile. I'll keep up with my edits, but corrections will just have to wait..
Thank you all for your prayers, friendship and care. It is appreciated.

The life of a person is more than the dash between two dates. It is my hope that the memorials which I create or manage can make the individuals life fuller, even if just linking to family members or adding a few tidbits of information. Researching and including other family information makes them more than graves, they are people. Suggestions are welcome but please submit them using the edit button at the upper right corner of each memorial.
Even when transcribing cemeteries I work hard to link other family members.
I live in the northwestern mountains of North Carolina and have work primarily in cemeteries there. My current focus is Carolina Memorial Park in Concord, North Carolina. There are 28,000 graves but only about 15,500+ listed. I've done more than 4,000 of those. Much of my family is buried there.

My family can be traced back 46 generations to County Leichester, England. The family is English/Norman. They came to England with William after the Battle of Hastings in 1066. The photo above is my ancestor, Sir Nicholas Purefoy, buried in The Church of St. Michael and all Angels in Fenny Drayton, Co. Leicestershire, England. The spelling of my name is the most rare of the three family groups: Purefoy, Purifoy and Peurifoy. The early Purefoys were in Jamestown, VA long before the Hugonaut movement.
On my paternal side I am interested in the Peurifoy, Purifoy, Purefoy, Scott and Suther families.
For my maternal side are Statons, Stiller's,and Moores (from Stanly Co, NC).
My wife is from the Byrd and Carr families of Duplin County, NC.
You are invited to visit the memorials of my grandmother Lillian Scott Peurifoy, my mother
Hazel Staton Peurifoy
and Father Robert Eugene Peurifoy.

Photos of graves are free to use. However, personal photos of individuals are copyrighted by this writer and can only be used on other sites by written request via email (not "public messages on my personal page) and acknowledgement of original owner of the photograph.

Thanks to all who help with my typo, mistakes and incorrect links. I could not accomplish this without your help.

RE: Roy & Elvin Bigham

Thank you for transferring my parents' records to me. I retired several years ago and have started going through photos and papers inherited from several different family members who died in 2011 or later. As part of this sifting, I am updating or adding Findagrave records.

I am assuming from your message that you have service or affiliation with the Marines. Blessings upon you and thank you for your service!

Peurifoy and Barbour
Georgia Travis has been transferred to your care.

Also... i.e. your memorial for Donald Barbour # 115358874. Could you update his Burial Unknown to Greenwood Cemetery, Orlando (Orange County), Florida. I added a photo of his headstone for you. Thanks so much!

RE: Benjamin Whitfield Peurifoy

Thanks for the reply. :) I sucked my 8 1/2 year old into the family history stuff a few weeks ago, finding new relatives, be it "kissing cousins", or my grandpa's first cousin, to a relative that is so distant you might as well not even consider it a relative.. But, when I tell him about someone new I found, or a new picture, or new information, that I am finding out [as I quite literally JUST found out about the Hunt family connection a month ago], he gets crazy excited & wants to know MORE. As I home school my kid, I am able to add in extra history. Guess 3rd grade will be heavy on the Civil War & all things Confederate, and the south.

You sure have done a lot of work on here. I don't think I'd have the patience to do that kind of work. I gladly pick peoples brain & then take notes & then pass those tid bits of info off to my son. Cuz, you know, kids remember EVERYTHING.

Have a good night.

RE: Ann Elizabeth Hunt Haskell

First off, I want to tell you that I am so very sorry to read about the loss of your son. I found your bio by accident a few days ago, I have no idea how I even got there.. But I am glad I did. :)

Anyways, the reason for this msg is that I was looking through some of the family line of the Hunts in Georgia. My 2nd great grandpa [via my maternal grandpa, on his maternal side] was Wilkins Wallace Hunt. I then clicked on one of his siblings by the name of Ann Elizabeth Hunt Haskell. I then saw Ann Hunt Haskell's child was named Sarah F. "Fannie" Haskell Peurifoy. I remember reading in your bio that the spelling of YOUR last name was the rarest of the 3, or 5 spellings, seeing as how I quite literally JUST found out about the Hunt line in my family, I have not done too much research outside of WHO the Hunts were & digging up everything I can about them. Are you by chance related to Sarah F. "Fannie" Haskell Peurifoy, as she married Benjamin Whitfield Peurifoy, Jr, and then they had 2 kids & that is all I have found within the past 5 minutes.

I guess I COULD go and ask my grandpa's first cousin [his mom & the cousins dad were the babies of the family, a set of twins, 2 of Wilkin's kids], or check out her ancestry family tree. But, I am down right lazy.

Anyways, thanks in advance.

Dixie Barts Memorial
Robert, I just wanted to let you know that even though you posted a photo for Dixie Hazeltine Barts, the photo request is still listed on the Carolina Memorial Park list. Just wanted to let you know so you could claim it and maybe it will be removed from the photo request list. Blessings to you.

If I find a "burial location unknown" and I know where they are buried I send an edit and let them know the cemetery, even if it is over 30 days; other people have extended me the same courtesy. If you send me the memorial # I will look at it and if no others are attached I will be glad to delete mine. My husband's mother was an O'Dell and related distantly thru Ila's family.

RE: Missing Nathan
I went on the Facebook page and read the memorial (both on the Find a Grave and newspaper). Again, I am so sorry. Such a handsome young man. I saw that you mentioned that he was a PK. Somehow, we who believe, who love Him, and are called, know that He will work even this out for our good.

God bless,
Julia Valentine
