Bio Photo Hello Everyone!
My philosophy is that the memorials for people unrelated to me are meant to be shared & given away to any close family member willing to maintain their family member's memorial page, make corrections, keep an ongoing commitment to this website & genealogy, etc. Though I may not always be available, please let me know if you'd like a transfer done (see below). I will get to it as soon as I can.
If you have suggestions or corrections, additional biographical information, relationships you'd like added to a memorial, I am happy to hear from you--I can add these changes for you if you don't wish to own the page. Please feel free to add appropriate photos and flowers anytime! Please, no post-mortem photos or photos (or names in obituaries, etc) of the living.

MAKING TRANSFERS: The best way to suggest corrections or ask for a transfer of management is to go to "edit" for that person's memorial page and send me an email under suggestions and comments. That way I can more easily get your message and your id number, etc--the switch will be done more quickly.

Have a Wonderful Time on Findagrave! It's truly the best help I've had in decades of research.

Best Wishes,

RE: Wanda Toscanini Horowitz
Thank You!
I am very happy you have appreciated.
As I told you, I will try to take a picture at the grave, that is inside the Toscanini family chapel.
Happy 2016!

Wanda Toscanini Horowitz
I have added a photo related to Wanda Toscanini Horowitz, but it is not from the gravesite.
In the future, I will try to go to the Monumental Cemetery to take a photo of the grave.
Best regards,

RE: Forgot to say...
No problem whatsoever. I have a plot map and I go by the cemetery at least twice a day. On top of that it's my old neighborhood and I go to my mother's house a few times a day, she's going to be 92 next month and lives alone.
Forest Hill has always kept two sets of records in two separate places in case of fire. I'm sure everyone that has searched for their ancestors records has heard those all too familiar words, "All the records were destroyed in a fire".
So post all the requests you want and I'll do my best to fulfill them.

RE: Forgot to say...
You're most welcome, glad to help. With just first names on the headstones, I thought there would be a main stone with their last name, but there wasn't.

RE: Helpinng With the Lowes
Happy to do it. If it would help your searches, I have transcribed all the names from the sign. Drop me a note to my email, and I'll send you a copy.

death cert for Mary Barker
definitely not worth the trouble to get the dc. If you have an email address I can scan and send it to you. It was entirely filled out by the coroner who was also the funeral director and whoever brought her to Salem wasn't around to provide any information. Since she had a diagnosis of "senility" someone may have been bringing her to Salem to admit her to Oregon State Hospital, which had excellent care for elders with that diagnosis. Whatever the case, she was taken to Salem Hospital, which was just across Center street at the time, perhaps dead on arrival and they simply called the coroner, as there is no medical personnel signing the form. If she'd gone to OSH, there would be records available from that time, and I can ask at Salem Hospital to see how far back their files go. (When my husband was ill, I know one of his docs was able to track some of his records - but even that was 10 years ago). I will also see if I can track the old Lehman Clough records which are now out at Stayton as the current descendant of that old funeral home just was sold to that new company.
It is a challenge of interest to me because I've not found a dc with such a lack of substantive information. I am just excited that we were able to match the cemetery records. She is buried next to the plots set aside for infants and very young children.

Mary Barker
at long last, we can confirm that your Mary Barker is, indeed, in City View Cemetery in Salem OR, Section A (which is the first section opened in 1893) and the issue has been the spelling of her surname. We looked in the original hand written pages of the ledger that holds City View record and discovered her name written as Mary Baker - but all of the dates coincide with the death certificate records which indicate that the Coroner first saw her on March 7, 1912 at Salem Hospital, and that she had died of "senility" on March 6 1912. No physician signed the death certificate - only the coroner, who also is the local funeral director. Perhaps when the fall rains return, I can get a better photo of her plot, but for now, you have indeed found her resting place. Dona

Re: photo for Mary Barker
we are still searching for the burial site for Mary Barker. I have retrieved her death certificate from Archives and it confirms her interment as City View, however we have found no records to confirm that at the cemetery office. Apparently, her body was brought to Salem Hospital after her death - as the date of death is indicated to be the 6th, but the coroner, who also was the funeral director, signed the dc that he had not seen her until the 7th - the day after her death. They confirm her usual address is "eastern Oregon" and the only signature is that of the coroner/undertaker, Mr. Clough. He lists cause of death as "Senility".
