Wife and stay at home mom to four beautiful girls. One in heaven due to premature birth. glad that we can find our loved ones graves on here. I have learned a lot this past year researching my family roots. The most surpring is that the majority of the family started out in New England then moved down South little by little. So whomever stated that the civil war was brother against brother was correct. Also this whole world is smaller than we think it is and we would be wise to realize that. Ancestral homes include the entire United Kingdom. Many, many of my people come from this area. Much of New England, all the way down South on the Eastern seaboard. Other states include TX,AK,TN, and MO. Lots of my people from the mountains of North Georgia. Another thing I have learned is that family names are spelled many different ways on records of all types|

|Charles Conner||John Elrod Cemetery|
The people that you list as being buried in the Mountain View Cemetery for the Elrod Family is only partly correct. Abraham and his wife are buried elsewhere on the land that they owned. In fact the graves are now in the front yard of a house in Cherokee Forest. They are now completely unmarked and the present owner of the property is most likely unaware of the fact that they are graves on the property. My Cousin made and attempt to marked the graves but was turned down by the owner of the property at the time. I have pics of the John Elrod Cemetery and people that are buried there. Sybil McRae included this family cemetery in her book on cemeteries in Hall County. If you would lie to know more and have pictures of the cemetery as it now exist, you can contact me. My e-mail address is email@example.com. I am presently working on a marker to identify this cemetery so that it is not lost to development like the graves of his parents.
|Lorinda DePeal Martin||Martha Ann Martin|
The Martha Ann Martin that should be attached to this family is seen in 1880 Census Hall County living with her mother and unmarried at age 36. The Martha Ann that married Porter Ownbey is in Walker County GA with her family in 1850 with Porter also there. Her family was in Jackson County in 1840. It appears that she is with them then. Martha and Porter may have married in Union County while visiting his relatives. His family was from NC and a lot of the Ownbeys in Union county were from NC. The couple had their first child in Walker County where her family lived. They moved to Springfield before there second child when some of her family also moved to Springfield. Her brother John had his first child in Arkansas, was married in Walker County and born in Jackson county according to military documents and death certificate. John's middle name is mcduffie so he is easier to locate. I have a pension paper signed by Martha Ownbey for my husband's great grandmother to get a widows pension when Martha Ann's brother John McDuffie Martin died.
|Lorinda DePeal Martin||Martha Ann Martin Ownbey|
I am curious as to how you connected Martha Ann Martin Ownbey to the parents you have her listed under. I have her parents as John Martin and Sarah McDuffie Stockon. Seethe duplicate memorial I added several years ago. She and Porter Ownbey are listed in what I believe to be her parents home in 1850 in Walker County GA. My husband is a decendent of her brother. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org Ps. I did not mean to duplicate but had spelled the name differently as Owenby instead of Ownbey.

Adolphus (Doffie) Jones was working in the fields one day during the start of the Civil War. He had refused to take sides and confederate soldiers or raiders took him and killed him. Some said he was killed in his barn near Ellijay, Gilmer County GA around Boardtown Road and Salem Baptist Church

People have Agnes Tankersley confused with Thomas's wife Agnes. Agnes Tankersley was the daughter of Thomas and Agnes Green's son Joseph Green and he had a daughter Agnes Green who married William Tankersley my great Grandparents. E-mail me and we can discuss this further.
|Viola Holden Jones||RE: Rachel Monroe Pettit|
I checked the Monroe and the father they list is too young to be Rachel's father.
