Bio Photo Hello everyone,
I started working on the McVey family tree back in 1979. After the death of my grandfather, James Preston McVey (64288185), my father came into possession of an old humpback trunk that contained a civil war flag, a couple of old double barrel shotguns, tin type photos, and the Family bible. The bible contained the birth dates of my Great-grandfather and his brothers, that was the "seed" that got me started.
I had no idea at the time how addictive genealogy could be.
I ran across Find-a-Grave during a recent research jag. It has become one of my favorite resources. I've always been an avid photographer, so I have plenty of photos from past visits to family cemeteries, I'm attempting to add them as well as the newer ones I have visited.
I hope my additions are as helpful to your research as yours have been to me.

RE: I. Mitchell 102310151
Yes, I find mistakes all the time on both headstones and on death certificates. But if you look closely at the headstone, it's handmade and the bottom of the "J" is faint, but it's there.
Did you go to the link showing the death record?
There are no records that I can find showing that John and Caroline had a son named I. Michael Mitchell. There are records showing they had a son named James Michael Mitchell who died October 28, 1874 in Cabin Creek.

I was at Dry Branch the other day and took a picture of I. Mitchell's headstone. I think it says J. Mitchell (James M. Mitchell)
James was the son of Caroline Cole (102309857) and John Mitchell (102309811)
Born August 20, 1869 - Died October 28, 1874.
Here is a link to his death record:
Let me know what you think. I didn't want to create a memorial for him because I really think this is James.

your memorial 106484591 appears to be that one of an author, I suppose you may know. Here is some info about her:

Thank you
Thanks so much for those two transfers. I do most of my work in Raleigh County so if you see any of my memorials that are kin to you let me know, and I will transfer to you. Thanks again.

Would you consider transferring this memorial to me. She is my great grandmother and I've been working on this line since I've been a member of findagrave. You found her before I did. As you can see, I've been linking her to her family. Thank you Robin
