I have been working on my family genealogy for over 20 years. The family names I am working on are: Grant/Goodwin of Maine and New Hampshire, Corbin/Handy/Mills lines of CT, MA,RI,ME and NH, Higgins and Nelson, Krahler and Kumlin from WI and MN.|
When my husband and I travel we always look up in Find a Grave for any requests for pictures. We have seen some very unusual and beautiful cemeteries. We have done lots of walking up and down hills at some. We really love the adventures of finding graves for people.

I suggest that you contact Melinda Hunt. She is an artist who became interested in Hart Island burials some years ago and knows more about the place than anyone else. She can surely answer your questions. Ms Hunt started the first online database for HI burials ("Hart Island Project") and works tirelessly to bring the burial ground to the public's attention. She also works to change the onerous visitation restrictions. Due to pressure that Ms Hunt has brought to bear, the NYC Department of Corrections has also instituted an online database. Good luck in your quest.

|C B||Memorial Transfer Request|
Would you consider transferring memorial #28528570 to me?
Gilmar was my grandfather.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.

You're very welcome, Marsha.
I was at Fairfield Memorial Park over the weekend, but because of all the leaves, I unfortunately unable to find your Joseph Corbins. I did fine 2 other Corbins in my search; John & Avanelle, and will be making memorials for them this morning. Please let me know if these are relatives; I'll be glad to transfer them to you if they are.

My pleasure! I have a copy of the lot card if you want it? Reply to my email and I'll reply with it as a PDF attachment.
|Chris Newcomb||John T. Newcomb|
John T. Newcomb was my great grandfather. My father had passed along the Ft. Sumter story to us as children but have yet to find any verifying information until I saw your write-up. You mention a book where this story comes from. Can you point me to this book? As far as I know the fort was taken by the confederates and remained in their hands until the end of the war, so I am confused about it.
One other thing, Sarah's maiden name was Davison, not Davidson. Her son, William Davison Newcomb was my grandfather.

I wanted to thank you for making the corrections I sent for some of the memorials in St. John's Cemetery (new and old). I try not to overwhelm when I send them.
Thanks for all your work on Find A Grave.

Actually, somebody else added the picture--her name is under the picture. I'm not related, nor do I have any further info--but she might.

Hello again Marsha,
Thank you for your generosity in transferring Emma Stahl to my care. I have successfully connected her with family. As I receive more information, I will add it to Our shared memorial.
With sincerest appreciation,
