Six generations in Sumter County, Alabama. Live in Tuscaloosa for now, but am working my way back HOME. I greatly enjoy finding and photographing headstones for your memorials... Particularly in those out-of-the-way "country" cemeteries. With this killer heat we're experiencing in Alabama this summer, my efforts are a bit curtailed for the moment. But I will get back to it when it cools off a bit.|

Thanks for the information - I will create the memorials later this evening.
I appreciate your sisters time and consideration.

Thank you! Charles Rush Gates is my husband's ancestor. I have wondered for 22 years where exactly he was buried.

Are the pictures that you took, and the pictures that Edward West took, from the same cemetery? On findagrave, they appear to be from 2 different cemeteries.

Also, may I use your pictures of the markers of Robert Savidge Foster and Ann Tompkins Foster for my personal use?

Could you clarify for me, please, if there is one, or two, Foster cemeteries? I would like to visit there this summer, and I want to make sure I am going to the corect place. I REALLY appreciate your taking the pictures of the markers of Robert Savidge and Ann Tompkins Foster. I have been looking for those for over 20 years.

John, Thanks you very much for taking the time to locate and photograph Erma Rhone and Paralee Wyatts tombstone for me. Your Efforts are much appreciated.
|Edward West||RE: Foster Burials|
Many thanks for the prompt reply, John. And I'm glad you told me about your searches for the other site on Sylvan Rd, because I was going to go back and look. Now I don't need to go. Yes, there is a newish wood fence at the correct Foster site. I took photos of that and the cemetary itself, and have entered them in FindaGrave. As you probably know they won't show for you and others until them website approves them. Good to hear from you. Ed
|Edward West||Foster Burials|
Hello there. I notice by your bio you live in the Tuscaloosa area, and I do also. Today I visited the Foster cemetary on old hwy 43, (google calls it county rd 7). I wanted to fullfill photo requests and document the cemetary. The GPS coordinates given for it were correct, but it was still a little difficult to see since it was so overgrown. I found only 8 burials there, not a one was in the FindaGrave listing for the cemetary. All were Fosters except for one Gates. However, there is another Foster cemetary in FindaGrave, and it is shown as being east of there on Sylvan Loop rd. I have not been to this cemetary, although I passed right by that loation on my way to Sylvan cemetary a little further south of there. I notice that 3 of the burials I found in the cemetary on hwy 43 were entered by you in the other Foster cemetary on Sylvan Loop rd. (Wade, Ann, and Robert S Foster. (I'm not sure about this cemetary since it only lists 5 burials, and I don't remember seeing it as I passed by today.) I know these 3 are the same because the photos you and I took are identical, with backgrounds matching also. I'm going to add all the others I photographed to the cemetary on 43, because I know they are right, but I'll wait on the 3 until I hear from you. You probably want to do it yourself, which is fine with me. I don't know what to do about all those that are listed in the 43 cemetary that aren't there, but they shouldn't be listed since they definitely aren't there. If there is anything I can do to help let me know. Ed
