Hi Ronald,my name is Noma(Lafkin)Woodall. Was wondering if you are a family member? Bill was my cousin. I had just talked to him about 3 weeks before he was murdered, and he had plans to come here to Arkansas. We lived very far apart but were attempting to be a family. He was named after my father. I am attempting to do genealogies on my father and mothers side and this site has been very helpful because of people like you. I was wondering if you would transfer his memorial over to me so I can attempt to start linking him to other family. Thanks so much, Noma

|Amanda Sturgeon||Stewards in Pontotoc County Mississippi|
My name is Susanne Little Steward and I am from New Albany Mississippi. I have been researching my husband's grandfather, Gus Thomas Steward for over 15 years and have gotten absolutely nowhere. Family members say he was from Mississippi and census records say he was born in Mississippi and his parents were born in the US. I do know that some members of his family lived in Pontotoc County at one time. I am hoping that you might be able to at least give me one clue. The information I have is as follows:
Gus Thomas Steward
b. 1 January 1878
m. 23 August 1903 Martha Leola Jenkins at Jefferson County Alabama. Daughter of Henry Clay and Lourania Jane Black Jenkins. Leola died in childbirth on 28 June 1919. They had 6 children together.
m. Martha Belle Jennings Goodwin 21 September 1920 @ Union County, MS. They had 6 children together, John Norman Steward, Alfred Theron Steward, JB Steward, RV Steward (my husbands father), Sally Ruth Steward, and David Lynn Steward.
d. 15 October 1950 in Union County, MS
I am really having difficulty finding any kind of record of Gus's birth, marriages, and death that I can get needed information from. I made a trip to the Pontotoc County library a few weeks ago and could not find a copy of his obituary from any pontotoc papers.
I have not searched the Union County newspapers yet but plan on doing that next.
I hope you can find anything that might help me in my search.
Family members have told me that Gus had a brother named Earl Marion or Marion Earl, a sister named Dessie (or Bessie) and on a tree on ancestry.com Gus is listed as Gustave Steward. I have seen one record that was signed by Gus using the spelling STUARD.
Well, I enjoyed viewing your tree and hope you might have some information I can use. I'll be glad to share what I have wigh you if we have a connection.
Thanks and have a great day!!!

I just linked her to her parents - you obviously know the family - could you add this pic to her memorial? I'm thinking the child in the pic may be her - exciting!!!
