Bio and Links
Bio Photo Welcome, everyone. I am Frank Passic, Albion Historian (Albion, Calhoun County, Michigan). Check out the listings for Riverside Cemetery, as this cemetery dates back to 1837, and most burials are now listed on Findagrave. If your ancestor lived in the Albion, Michigan area, I might be able to help you. I write a weekly history column and many of these have been published on the www.albionmich.com web site. Be sure to check this out and type in a name in the search engine there, and you can also leave a message on the guestbook. If your ancestors lived in the Albion area, feel free to contact me and I can look up to see if any of your surnames are buried in Riverside Cemetery in Albion. I live only a few blocks from the cemetery and am more than happy to receive photo requests for there. I also maintain a private Albion area history archives with many surname files. Best wishes in your quest and research. Frank Passic, Albion Historian.
NOTE: With the advent of Findagrave's links to relatives and having posted thousands of entries, it can be time consuming to have to link parents and spouses. When requesting links to parents or spouses, please use the Findagrave "Edit" tab in the upper right corner of each individual listing, rather than a request on my message board here. Thanks for your consideration.

Hi Frank,

I notice that you have her maiden name as Smith. Her maiden name is Dean according to the historical notes on Nathan Dean. Philander was married 4 times. 1) M. Alemena Gardner md 23 Apr 1835, Warren, Herkimer Co, NY, d/o Richard & Mary Gardner. Long story but ended in a divorce. 2) Cynthia Dean md ca. 1845, MI. 3) Ann Inwood, 12 Apr 1848. They had 4 ch. George French b. 1849 in MI, Letta Ann b. 1855 CA, Dean S. 1858 Stockton, CA, Charles Lorenzo 1862 Stockton, CA. His wife Ann dies 5 June 1868 Stockton, CA. 4) He remarries his first wife Alemena Gardner 15 Jul, 1871 in Knoxville, Knox Co, IL. Philander's parents were Peter and Margaret Elizabeth "Peggy" lnu Williamson. He had 3 brothers, Lorenzo Dow of your area, Peter Jr who dies in Hillsdale Co. as does his father, Peter Sr.
Calvin Hawley was in Ocean Co, NY in the 1900 census. There was a sister Margaret Elizabeth who married Olonzo Engle. They had 2 ch and she dies in Hillsdale Co and her husband and family moved to Igo, Shasta Co, CA. The mother, Margaret in 1860 was in Chenango Co, NY and 1870 in Oneida Co, NY as she lived with her son Calvin. She is buried next to Cynthia Williamson. I can send you a complete file if you wish to put with the other information you have, just email me at claudiaakus@aol.com.

Hi Frank,
First of all, I want to thank you with my whole heart for all the work you are doing here. My husband and I have been looking for his biological father's family for a long time. He died when my husband was 8, and the only things we'd had found were misinformation. Last week I found a family tree on Ancestry which has only been there a year. I had finally found his grandfather and several more generations going back. With the names, I could finally look them up here. Most of them are in Riverside Cemetery in Albion. I am going to use the Edit key to ask for their transfers. As far as I know, I'm the only one working on them on Find A Grave. Most of them that I've found so far have the last name of Harris. Thanking you in advance. (Unless, of course, they are your relatives too?)I can't thank you enough for taking the time to put them on here.

Regards,
Rosie McNaughton
